What's the most expensive thing your cat has damaged?

Mines damaged a walnut bed side cabinet. £300 8 years ago so not cheap, lovely big scratch you get a finger nail into.

He got stuck between it and the bed, upside down, and freaked out even more when dh rescued him.

We love him really Grin

No monetary value, but old (now deceased) cat vomited on the cassette tape I found after my father died - it was a tape he'd made of all his favourite songs (starting with Sit Down You're Rocking The Boat :o). Tape was ruined and I cried, a lot. Took me a long time to forgive the poor cat.

Our big ginger bastard cat likes to jump off the garage roof onto our cars on the drive. When dh had an x type Jag the boot was scratched to hell from the way his claws hit it as he landed

Floralnomad · 09/11/2013 21:14

My mum has a Ragdoll ,he has ruined several furry rugs ( if they have a certain type of pile he pees on them ) , he tore so much wallpaper off the walls they had to have the house re plastered so that they could just paint the walls , has destroyed 2 lots of stair carpet and the voiles on the bay window (£300ish) .

CokeFan · 09/11/2013 21:18

Cat - not so much. He scratched walls mostly. Rabbit however… chewed the wheel on DD's balance bike, the foam handle on her pushchair, the wire for her little tikes petrol pump, a standard lamp wire, telephone wire (think that one gave him a bit of a buzz), the hoover wire, ate the plasterboard from the wall in his bedroom and dug holes in his carpet. DH threatened to casserole him when he went through the xbox wire. He's also "customised" a lot of books because he has a bit of a paper habit.

Leather sofa and Radley briefcase, now both adorned with clawmarks.

Our cats played kiss chase which involved anchoring claws into brand new bamboo flooring, I could have cried Sad

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/11/2013 21:22

These are awful.

Sometimes I wonder why we don't all have a nice Labrador or golden retriever instead. Cats are destructive.

himself. by fighting. £4500 later.....

RandomMess · 09/11/2013 21:28

Chibbs my cats aren't insured, they'd have to be put down if they did that Sad

BoohPear · 09/11/2013 21:30

About 6 iPad chargers, 2 DS chargers and both my sofas!

Chibbs · 09/11/2013 21:31

random, you need to get them insured! mine is now insured to the hilt!

StrictlySazz · 09/11/2013 21:33

Dcat launched herself at the bird table which teetered and came crashing down, straight through the window of the back door. She just managed to bail out before the glass smashed Grin

coffeeandcream · 09/11/2013 21:34

My Radley handbag and a piece of stunningly beautiful Moorcroft pottery. There were tears, lots of tears and swearing

StrictlySazz · 09/11/2013 21:35

She gets attacked by the neighbours cat, but luckily they are vets and feel responsible

FlashDrive · 09/11/2013 21:39

Next doors guinea pig RIP

cozietoesie · 09/11/2013 21:40

I was going to say only an Edwardian planter - until I thought about the carpets. (I have polished floors and Persian rugs.) Just as well I know how to clean them, eh?

issey6cats · 09/11/2013 21:41

the covers of my last sofa sofa was fine covers were shredded, came back off holiday to huge pottery cat money box in pieces on the floor, both my poole pottery cats in pieces on the floor, the venetian blinds at the windows demolished and being as my daughter had been in and out feeding them they must have done this last day after she left, one foster kitten managed to knock a one hundred year old victorian dish off the kitchen dresser, soyep a multi cat household will never be pristine lol

RandomMess · 09/11/2013 21:42

Looked into insuring them but it isn't cost effective, older pedigrees are darned expensive and most likely scenario is car collision - I'm afraid we'd just go with the PTS!

CanucksoontobeinLondon · 09/11/2013 21:43

One of our current cats knocked over and smashed a Wedgwood vase. To this day we don't know which of the two cats was the culprit, because no human was in the room when it smashed. The vase was usually kept in a glass-doored cupboard, but we had taken it out for dusting. It was a wedding present from DH's favourite aunt, too.

And years ago our old cat (may she rest in peace) tore up our new and expensive armchair. She was fine with our sofa, but the armchair was made of a fabric that was apparently irresistible to her. We had a spray bottle of water for spraying her when she scratched the armchair in front of us, but we'd come home from work every day to find fresh rips in the upholstery. Maddening.

Mogz · 09/11/2013 21:49

Couldnt tell you which cost the most to sort now as i forget, but the more expensive things ruined by our kitties have been - my DH's glasses, the car, numerous rugs, Venetian blinds, a flat screen TV, a ball gown.
The house rabbit was responsible for a lot of deaths of phone chargers, but I blame DH for those as I could nag until I was blue in the face but he never put them away or behind the rabbit proofing.

timtam23 · 09/11/2013 21:50

This week the kitten demolished the wooden blinds in my bedroom, he chewed through a lot of the cords and lots of the slats have fallen out

That doesn't sound so bad, but the windows are odd shapes and I had to have the blinds custom-made so they were fairly expensive

He's very cute though so I have forgiven him

Quite a few years ago my other cat vomited on a beautiful (and expensive) merino wool duvet I'd brought back from Australia, I was away at the time so ended up having to take it for professional cleaning - it was then completely ruined when the dry cleaners put it through a hot wash by mistake Angry (they did apologise & give me money towards a new one though)

cozietoesie · 09/11/2013 21:53

I think I must live in a different universe to you all. The planter was circumstantial and the rugs are -well if you're going to be sick, why not use the best, eh?

But the rest?

BrawToken · 09/11/2013 22:00

I have 2 cats who have damage nothing significant in 8 years and a labrador who is slowly but surely eating my house.

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/11/2013 22:04

Labradors eat anything though don't they? Like a goat.
