Moving house, the journey and new house, what can I do to keep cats calm?

Any ideas anyone? I have four cats and we are moving about 2 hours away, so the cats will have to go into their soft carriers for a fair part of the day. 2 of the cats are fairly laid back, but one especially became really stressed the last time we moved, and that was a very short time in her crate. Is feliway anygood? Ive seen a spray, does anyone know if it really works? Im getting really stressed worrying about it!

Well moving house is stressful at the best of times let alone with 4 cats!

Is there any way you can nominate one room, either at the new or old place, for putting them in with food, water and litter tray - then shut the door on them and leave them while you get on with things? That would mean only a 2 hour incarceration while they travelled.

Alternatively, do you have a good local cattery you could use for an overnight for them? Then you could leave them there and do all the moving business before they came back.

Moving out will be a real problem as the removal men will have the front door open all the time I should imagine and I cant see clearing a room totally at that point, but I aim to get a room sectioned off asap when we get there. Dont care about the furniture, just worry about the animals!

I have 2 dogs and kids aswell, I can see me supping bachs rememdy rescue during the day Grin

No chance of a cattery stay? That would relieve your anxiety a lot.
