Are human toes fascinating to all cats?

My old cat used to and now my new kitty does too - attack any toes that dare to escape from under the duvet. Especially if their owner is asleep or relaxing and not expecting it.

Our cat does this too, so maybe it is a general kitty thing. Would love to know why.

Yes, we too have a toe-hunter. He especially likes my toes, and only if Im trying to relax or sleep. He is also partial to any other part of the foot. I think it is because look like tiny little pink mice, but perhaps Im just being fanciful!

All my boys have loved heels - if bare eg when wearing slippers. Dib dab dib dab up the stairs after you.

PS - going after any body parts in bed is a great sin at CozieTowers and would lead to Exclusion From The Bedroom. They wouldn't dare.

Exclusion from the Bedroom chez Kitson just leads to pitiful scratching at the door and miaowsering loudly until allowed back into the bedroom. You must have nerves of steel, Cozie!

I couldn't exclude Didokitty - she sleeps on the bed (it's me that repairs to the spare room when the space runs out!)

We've learned to keep toes well hidden under the duvet. Which is a bit of a bugger when you get a hot flush!

Short term pain for long term gain, catkitson.

They're told that they've been bad and firmly (but not roughly) picked up, ejected and left outside the bedroom door until they've contemplated their sin long enough - usually 20 minutes to half an hour. They know what they've done wrong by the second or third time and you usually get a chastened little morsel crawling quietly into bed and heading for a cuddle - which they always get so that they know the chastising is over.

It's the same basic principle for all discipline - including kitchen surfaces. Seems to work.

Ah, no matter how many times Ive put my gang out for naughty behaviour, they never get the message - they just scratch at the door, cry, and then come back in and play tigger on my bed again or go back to gently knawing my toes! Ive got a cat tree in the kitchen now, so they can watch while Im in there, they seem to have left my surfaces alone now, at least when Im watching...

Ah well. Maybe I just have 'eye'. (Like a good sheepdog.)

You should offer your services as a "cat whisperer". Ild pay good money to have mine stay off surfaces, not cry at doors, and not hunt my toes!...
