We have feral kittens in our shed.

A black and white one and a black one.The mum is very young as we saw her about with her mother back in July.Now she has had her own kittens..

We can't have them as pets as DH is allergic,but don't mind having them living in the buildings as we get a lot of rats and mice.They will need neutering as will the mother,but tbh,I don't have the money for that sort of thing and don't know if I could catch them anyway.Any suggestions? Thank you.

Call the cats protection league. They were great. They will talk you through trapping them, they will arrange for them to be neutered and will test for FIV. If healthy they will release them back where they came from.

Ask the cats protection to do a trap, neuter, release on them.

Food will gain their trust, you need to crack on with it though or mum will be pg again.

as others have said get in touch with CPL if you are happy for them to live in your grounds and feed them and provide basic shelter they will trap them neuter them maybe even put the kittens in foster for taming and rehoming and release them back to your care and will pay for it as they would rather do this for three cats than you ending up with a huge colony of feral especial;y if one or both of the kits are female

Thank you,I'll get in touch with the CPL.Sadly we aren't near Hastings or London.I am feeding them scraps and they are getting used to me being around,I have to admit that I'm not a big fan of cats,we like the birds,but don't mind all 3 staying here as we have a big mouse/rat problem.The mother of my mother cat has another litter at my cousin's farm up the road,she was abandoned when a tenant here was evicted and has been feral ever since.

Are you sure there are only 2 kits? (Just in case there are some similar coloured ones knocking around.)

In that case you also need to send the CPL to the farm up the road. Otherwise there will be an endless stream of feral cats and kittens and a huge, huge colony.

How cruel to take an animal on and then abandon it.

Get some cat chew sticks, you'll be fighting them off.

Sadly,the owner didn't even look after her own children,never mind pets.I had a panic just now,as I hadn't seen the kittens all day and was worried that the mother had moved them,but DH has just spotted them playing in the garden.

I'm going to ring the CPL on Friday as I'm at work in the mornings and their phone line is only open until 1pm.Hopefully we'll get them sorted before any more appear.I'll see my cousin this week and see if we can trap the original cat and her new litter too.Thanks for the advice.

Keep feeding them and being nice to them.

You are a bigger fan if cats than you realise if you worried about not seeing them all day.

Yes get them used to taking food in the same place each day. Make sure there will be space for the trap where you feed them the trap was quite big ?a meter long. I had to slowly put food further and further into the trap then set it. I fed the cat twice a day and it took about 4-5 days. Once trapped we took him to a vet the cpl told us to. Sadly ours turned out to be FIV positive and he was 10yrs old so he was neutered and sent to a retirement farm.

I hope that CPL are able to help you sort trap-neuter-release/rehome (depending on whether or not they think kittens would be tameable).
