New Kittens have the runs are they ill or just a bit shocked?

I adopted two 6 month old torti's from RSPCA 3 days ago, they both have the runs but mostly make it to the litter tray, I am worried they are poorly. I have given them the food the RSPCA gave me and nothing else, could they be a bit stressed, as they were hand reared and have never been out of the shelter so it must be. Bit strange in. Large house? I wnt to know whether I should give them some puréed pumpkin as I have red on the Internet to try nd stop the poop a bit?

Probably stressed, cats digestive systems aren't designed to take veg but some plain cooked chicken breast would go down a treat.

When did the runs start, happy?

happycrimblechuckie · 04/10/2013 19:49

As soon as they got in the house they went straight to the litter tray and it was runny

I wouldn't be happy with three days of diarrhoea. The odd bit, OK, but that's going on a bit long for my liking. Have the RSPCA undertaken to do follow up vet care? I'd give them some plain cooked chicken as Fluffy suggested but if no improvement by tomorrow, I'd be phoning RSPCA.

Are they drinking water OK and peeing?

They seem really happy and playful, I have them in at the vets on Monday to be checked over, they are drinking and eating fine so I have put some chicken in the oven for later see if that helps.

What are they drinking?

cozietoesie · 04/10/2013 20:08

OK - but keep a close eye on them. (I'm noting the fact that they both have the runs and not just one of them.)

Are they drinking their water and peeing OK?

I was wondering that as well, Fluffy.

You haven't given them milk by any chance have you, OP?
