Has your existing cat lived with other cats before? How is she with cats in the neighbourhood? You'll need to gauge what her reaction might be and go from there, a kitten might be lovely but what would you do if your older cat got by stressed and wouldn't accept it?

I was going to say the same a Mogz. Cats who have always been only cats really struggle to accommodate new arrivals particularly playful kitten ones.

I was (and still am) in the same position as you, our old chap is 13 and we just rescued an orphaned kitten, about 3 month ago. They go for snoozes together, eat their dinners together and sometimes play and frolic together.
However, at first the old boy was disgusted with the new kitten, wouldn't be in same room as him, batted him away with his paw if kitten came near. If you do decide to get this kitten, just take it slowly introducing them and factor the new kitten into the old cat's routine gently. I'm sure you will all be fine.
