Hi all,
i've never posted her before but lurk a lot.i took my beautiful 14 yr old ginger tom to the vet today as he's been loosing weight, i got told he has cancer and the best thing to do is put him to sleep. He's not been eatting and lost loads of weight i honestly thought it would be a case of removing a tooth or something simple,, i'm totally devasted with this news. The vet gave him a steriod injection to make him more comfortable since returning home he has constantly vomited.i made an appointment for him to be put to sleep tomorrow afternoon Sad my poor little gingy i will miss him so much

Is there time for a second opinion? It seems awfully quick.

I lost my cat in May to cancer which was diagnosed in July last year and she was fine for all that time even without treatment.

strawberry i'm afraid i think the vet is right on this occasion sadly, he went from being a healthy brut of a cat to now only weighing 10lbs, she also noted he has a heart murmor so prob wouldn;t survive surgery

So sorry, gingysmummy. How long has he lived with you?

MissStrawberry · 19/07/2013 18:28

Oh dear that does sound bad.

I am so sorry for you.

I know I was devastated when I lost my cat and still cry for her.

I hope Gingy passes peacefully.

we've had him 14 years he was the runt of the litter but we just fell in love with him, he's the most gentle cat you could meet.we always say he's got magical powers if someone is feeling poorly he'll sit with you and you always feel better.I just can't imagine that this time tommorrow we'll no longer have our beautiful boy anymore.our ds(6) is going to my parents so mydh can come to vets with me dont think i can do it on my own

You'll have him in your heart forever.

We'll all be thinking of you tomorrow.

Hi ginge, it's sad when the time comes to let them go. Cuddle him if it's comfortable for him to do so. Feed him squirty cream, tuna, smoked salmon whatever he will take and makes him happy. I guess what I am trying to say is make his last day as comfortable and nice as you can. I'm so sorry it is hard especially when you have had them for so long. Big hugs. Xx

Holding your hand. Very sad. You're doing the right thing. Try to be calm and strong tomorrow so he doesn't get too upset. Hmm
