...as she will get lost. So how do I get her to use a litter tray? Any tips gratefully received.

Put some compost in the litter tray.

Thanks, will try that. Poor thing. She's hiding in the corner.

Why do you think she"ll get lost? Have you fed her?

cozietoesie · 27/05/2013 17:14

How long have you had her?

GreatBags · 27/05/2013 17:21

Sorry for not giving more detail in OP...she belonged to a family member who has moved into rented accommodation and can't keep her. So I am keeping her in for a couple of weeks so she doesn't get lost, we got her here a few hours ago. She is in a room on her own hiding in a corner whilst DC and I are in another room.

But she has never used a tray, she's at least 10 and is used to being outside most of the day. I've put food down which she ate a tiny amount of but she was fed this morning as normal.

Shes just scared, she'll come round.

As Fluffy said - she's in a strange place, without her person, strange sounds and so on - she's a bit scared. Just keep the DCs away from her at the moment and let her stay reasonably quietly. She's eaten something in the new place which is excellent.

Oh - and unless she was a feral kitten, she'll likely have used a tray way back when so the concept shouldn't be entirely alien. Just leave a tray in the room with her and see how it goes. You may get the odd accident but it will probably be OK. (Don't worry if she doesn't go immediately as they can cross their legs for ages.)
