Some fucking shit ran over my cat!

My neighbour called me and said someone was speeding down our road ( which drives me mad as we have a school and nursery near us and it is 20 mph, but that's another thread....) and our cat ran across the road and they hit it. Get this they slowed then fucking drove off, did not even get out to see if he was okay.

So I had to take all three of my children home to see if he was dead bloody traumatic for them ( he was not dead) he is now at the vets with god knows what wrong with him, when I picked Him up and put him in my car he collapsed.

So to the Aibu can I watch out for the car as i have the reg and a good description and stick hundreds of post it notes thanking them for not getting out of the car the bastards? Angry

Sorry for the extra long delay first can I ask that this is moved to appropriate place please?

second before I update I missed loads of messages so just seen the deleted bits of conversation. yes you are entitled to your own opinion but if it is a nasty selfish opinion then keep it to your fucking self.

Update:

We brought Mr Mieaw home yesterday and I think unless someone can reassure me it will be home before he is PTS. He keeps falling to the left and cannot use his front leg the vet thinks brain damage. We let I'm out of the crate for a while and he could not jump on the sofa it was truly heart breaking to see him in that state. My youngest two think as he is home he will be fine but my oldest was in floods and keeps saying we are going to have to let him die....

I really don't want him PTS but unless it is something which will improve like nerve damage? Then I can't watch him like this. Also his eyes are unequal quite noticeable and it kind of looks like he has had a stroke, any thoughts, positive experience?

Oh no, I'm so sorry. We have two Burmese and I know exactly what incredibly endearing cats they are.
Poor baby. I hope someone who knows more than me (nearly anyone, I'd think) can give you good news.

Did the vet give you any prognosis, Zepherial?

To get the thread moved by MNHQ, just press the report link at the upper right on your opening post and ask them to move it - The Litter Tray would probably be best.

Hope to see you there.

Thanks Cozie, I have asked for it to be moved.

To be honest the vet was very vague (cost a bloody fortune for vagueness) they said all we can do is wait or have specialist scans which coast thousands.

Well, I've heard of cats recovering from strokes in time. I suppose it's like humans though, you have to have the fighting spirit.

A kitten on here broke its pelvis and survived and is ok now.

Maybe a good idea to tag on to the (linking) thread that Sparkling started across there and let this one drift once it's moved?

I'd give it a few days and a few sleeps on his part. I've not had a brain damaged cat but I've how human brains can adapt to damage and it can sometimes be quite extraordinary. If he's not in pain or discomfort that is.

OP my cat was kicked in the head by a weird and horrible neighbour...he has a droopy mouth ever since but the vet says's he is fine. After he was kicked, he hid for 48 hours in my office and I couldn't find him...we took him to the vet who looked at his droopy mouth and fount a top tooth (big fang) had been knocked out but the bottom lip droop cant be to do with that so some brain damage is possible.

He's fine. A year later and he is just fine...

I really don't understand people who could drive off after injuring an animal - dreadful and heartbreaking.

Perhaps however there is a sad lesson for the cat owners who let their cats out for "10 minutes". I assume that is so the cats can have a shit in neighbours' gardens.

Just don't do it and this will not happen again.

A bit of a positive for you.

My boy got stuck down between a shed and a wall for about 8hrs in horrendous, torrential rain freezing cold conditions. Luckily we found him but he was in a bad way, very much like yours - he couldn't stand, kept falling over and his head was tilted to the left hand side. Our vet also feared brain damage.

It took about 10 days but he did get slowly better. He went through a phase of just sitting and staring at the wall which also worried me but 18mths on, he is almost back to how he was before the accident. He's just a bit softer now and and doesn't like going out in the rain!

I do hope yours gets better - we were worried at first as well as he didn't seem to be improving and I was forever on the phone to the vet but he got there.

Some bastard hit our cat on Tuesday morning. He died in my arms and now we have his ashes in a little wooden box. He was beautiful.
