Some fucking shit ran over my cat!

My neighbour called me and said someone was speeding down our road ( which drives me mad as we have a school and nursery near us and it is 20 mph, but that's another thread....) and our cat ran across the road and they hit it. Get this they slowed then fucking drove off, did not even get out to see if he was okay.

So I had to take all three of my children home to see if he was dead bloody traumatic for them ( he was not dead) he is now at the vets with god knows what wrong with him, when I picked Him up and put him in my car he collapsed.

So to the Aibu can I watch out for the car as i have the reg and a good description and stick hundreds of post it notes thanking them for not getting out of the car the bastards? Angry

My cat is quite mad. I’ll be sitting reading or watching tv and she’ll start shouting at me and rolling around as if she wants to be stroked. So I heave myself up and go towards her at which point she walks off, checking that I’m following, leads me to her food bowl and starts to eat while purring loudly at the same time. She actually wants me to watch her eat. What on earth? 😹

I just wanted to comment on this because its so familiar to my story from today's event and wanted some advice. After dinner this afternoon I had a knock on the door from a child and a man which lived over the road saying someone had just ran over my cat in a blue car and drove off with no remorse.
I ran to the seen where many other children had seen the activity. I was distraught my kitten which was 8 months old and had just been nutured next to its brother on the floor rolling and suffering until it died 30seconda later. The fact that I had to see this happen so dod my 3year old daughter, the children of the street and neighbors. I carried her home with teary eyes and holding my daughters hand thinking how shall I explain this - the fact that no one has says sorry - I was fumming, upset and really disgusted with the fact that a human being could do such a thing. To not even stop to see who the owner was or if the cat was ok. I will be going round the street tomorrow to see which vehicles are light blue in the direction it went to question why haven't they said sorry to my daughter for her loss of her best friend - I don't think a person like this is a human being if they can't even say sorry for this. I feel as if it was a dog they would stop but a cat doesn't have as much rights and this is where I am angry. Doesn't anyone have a rule about this?. She only started her life really and for her to suffer like this ... Omg I'm not going to go to details but it was horrible and with a pool of blood. This has scared me very deaply and the kittens sister is missing her with obvious signs. And my daughter has had to witness this at only 3!. I'm devastated for all of us in the family, a part of our family has gone for ever because of a reckless driver. They were obviously not doing 20 to do that much damage and for someone to hear a bump in the road. It could have been a child stepping into the road and this is where I question the law of reckless driving!. An animal can suffer just as a human being can!.

My cat has just spent £4000 at the vets. Hope yours isn't that much! She is insured!

This thread was originally started in 2013, and then resurrected in 2015. I would suggest starting your own thread so you don't dredge all this up for someone.

Hi, Susym1.

We're so sorry to hear about your cat Sad Maybe you could start a thread about it? You can do this on here//www.mumsnet.com/Talk/the_litter_tray, where it says 'start a new thread' at the top.

Wishing you all the best. Sad

Some bastard hit our cat on Tuesday morning. He died in my arms and now we have his ashes in a little wooden box. He was beautiful.

A bit of a positive for you.

My boy got stuck down between a shed and a wall for about 8hrs in horrendous, torrential rain freezing cold conditions. Luckily we found him but he was in a bad way, very much like yours - he couldn't stand, kept falling over and his head was tilted to the left hand side. Our vet also feared brain damage.

It took about 10 days but he did get slowly better. He went through a phase of just sitting and staring at the wall which also worried me but 18mths on, he is almost back to how he was before the accident. He's just a bit softer now and and doesn't like going out in the rain!

I do hope yours gets better - we were worried at first as well as he didn't seem to be improving and I was forever on the phone to the vet but he got there.

I really don't understand people who could drive off after injuring an animal - dreadful and heartbreaking.

Perhaps however there is a sad lesson for the cat owners who let their cats out for "10 minutes". I assume that is so the cats can have a shit in neighbours' gardens.

Just don't do it and this will not happen again.

OP my cat was kicked in the head by a weird and horrible neighbour...he has a droopy mouth ever since but the vet says's he is fine. After he was kicked, he hid for 48 hours in my office and I couldn't find him...we took him to the vet who looked at his droopy mouth and fount a top tooth (big fang) had been knocked out but the bottom lip droop cant be to do with that so some brain damage is possible.

He's fine. A year later and he is just fine...

Maybe a good idea to tag on to the (linking) thread that Sparkling started across there and let this one drift once it's moved?

I'd give it a few days and a few sleeps on his part. I've not had a brain damaged cat but I've how human brains can adapt to damage and it can sometimes be quite extraordinary. If he's not in pain or discomfort that is.
