Hello

We've just adopted a sweet little 7month old today. She has been very nervous since we got her home but she has finally been coaxed from her hiding place, eaten, pooed, played, so far so good. Dd has been very excited but she has been pretty good in keeping a lid on it and given her space and been gentle. Trouble is, the cat scratched her, and now she's terrified. She even said she will look forward to school days for when she's away from the cat and that she wants us to take her back!

I know we're only a few hours in but any advice would be welcomed. We got a cat for her really in the first place! The cat is currently curled up on my lap and seems a happy girl. I so want dd to like her! How can we help her get over being scared?

Poor wee thing - both of them!

I would imagine it will work the same way as if the kitten was scared of your DD. Gentle introductions all done at her own pace. Does she understand that the kitten was rescued? Maybe a wee chat about where she thinks the kitten lived before and how she might have felt before finding a lovely home. If she can understand why the kitten scratched her and knows that it was nothing personal she might be more inclined to get l know the kitten better.

I hope she feels better soon.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Both parties more relaxed today, have given her lots of space and I think she's working out we're ok and not a threat. Dd woke up with renewed confidence, we just have to keep a reign on that confidence! There's is definitely hope though Smile
