Crap.

Poor little thing.

I hate myself right now for getting cats.

And for calling the 3 of them associated names. So there will always be a gap when we talk about the other two. I am so stupid.

To make matters worse, we decided not to tell the youngest 2, but DD2 told her BF via text who told her sister and she's DD3's BF so I had to rush into school and grab her out of class to tell her myself before she could be told by a 9yo who thought she knew. So nwo school thinks I'm an utter weirdo fir turning up at 9.25 to tell her of the cat's death. (sorry that's probably incomprehensible)

Ffs.

Shit day all round.

He's buried now.

That's very tough. I hope you dd's are ok.

AGoldenOrange · 07/09/2012 12:12

Oh no Sad

RikersBeard · 07/09/2012 12:12

So sorry for you and your DDs :(

I also hate that people drive off when they hit a cat, rather than try to find out who it belongs to.

Really sad for you, I have 2 mogs

Northernlurkerisbackatwork · 07/09/2012 12:12

What a shame. I'm having a shit day too but that's much worse. So sorry.

Sparklingbrook · 07/09/2012 12:12

Oh Chaos. That is heartbreaking. I think you did the right thing going up to the school, I would have done.

MNhoneydragonHQ · 07/09/2012 12:13

Oh Chaos ((hugs)) Sad, poor Urchins. Sad
And Angry at whoever did it.

SecretNutellaMedallist · 07/09/2012 12:13

I am so sorry Chaos. It is normal to feel as you do. Don't blame yourself.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 07/09/2012 12:14

Thanks all, not entirely sure why I posted. Just wanted to misery pop I guess. Sorry.

Sparklingbrook · 07/09/2012 12:16

Nothing wrong with that Chaos. that's what MN is for isn't it?

PseudoBadger · 07/09/2012 12:16

Oh no!! I'm so very sorry :(

SecretNutellaMedallist · 07/09/2012 12:17

I am going to guess he was hit by a car? I've lost two of mine that way. One had been sitting on the middle of the pavement when he got hit. It's always rankled that I couldn't track the bastard down and shove him into oncoming traffic.

cozietoesie · 07/09/2012 12:18

So sorry, chaos.

Sad

that is so sad Chaos, my parents always had cats until 1 was hit and killed by a car. Mum never got over the guilt (it wasn't her fault, wasn't the drivers fault, it was just an accident) they've never had a cat/kitten since Sad

I am trying to move house, one of my main 'needs' is a house that doesn't face or back onto a busy road, purely for my cats.

So sorry for your loss, big hugs to you all.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 07/09/2012 12:20

Thanks again. I'm sitting here getting upset all over again now.

Do you know what makes it worse? I decided to pull ChaoticBoy out of class too, in case one of DD2's freidns told him over the fence in the playground. He didn't get upset and he adores those cats - calls them his Brothers - he just asked if we can get another one and call that one Control as well. But a white one this s time so the cars can see it. No tears.

Why does that bother me so much?

Oh, so sorry. At least you found him and were able to bury him.

When I was ten my kitten went missing and I walked in the evenings looking for him shaking a box of cat biscuits for a whole year before I acccepted that he wasn't coming back Sad

ChaosTrulyReigns · 07/09/2012 12:26

Oh, Gobblers, that's so sad. (hug)

Awww Chaos, so sorry to hear about that, it's shit. :(

re. your DS - it's probably just his way of coping with it - don't let it bother you, he may be upset when he comes home and has to deal with the reality of it. :(

When I left home to work, I got my Mum a kitten as a replacement - he was a gorgeous kit, was going to be a huge cat but got run over when he was ~1yo. Tragic. Affected me, aged 22, for months - cats get into your hearts. I've vowed never to have one again until I live on lots of acres and nowhere near a main road and I'd have to be divorced as DH hates cats but that's another story

(((hugs))) for you anyway and RIP Control.

greenhill · 07/09/2012 12:32

Sad so sorry to hear this.

My neighbour's old, deaf white cat with one blue eye and one orange eye was knocked over and killed in the lane behind their house. The unthinking sods put his body into the neighbour's bin, so they found him when they put the rubbish out Angry

It isn't much consolation but at least you could bury him.
You are allowed to be upset, a member of your family died today.

peeriePistoriuslicker · 07/09/2012 12:38

:( Poor puss. I live in fear of my cat meeting the same fate.
I took on my friend's two cats when she had a baby (lots of valid reasons for her and she was very sad to see them go). One had been run over within a year and my DD1 watched me pick him, still warm, off the kerb. The other made 5 more happy years with us, until I suspect he was clipped (found in neighbours garden unmarked but big bottle-brush tail). Thing is, this is the bloody suburbs. Kids play out in the streets. Dogs sometimes escape. People still drive like arseholes.

Exactly the same thing happened to my DD ten years ago

She went out to wait for the school bus and our 7 month old kitten was in the road. She came back in floods of tears, and worse still DH went and picked the cat up just as the double decker school bus arrived, thereby traumatising the rest of the bus children!
We had to phone the school to explain. I was REALLY glad when the dc's no longer had to wait for the bus there in case it happened to one of the other cats.

Sad for you
