This morning she was coughing and has also had a sloppy bowel accident outside. She wasn't interested in breakfast even though I didn't come down until after 9 and she wasn't about when DH left at 7. He normally feeds her before he goes. I had to put the plate under her nose to get her to come and ear.

Her back legs are a bit wobbly and I will take her for a jab on Monday to hopefully get some relief. She didn't wee over night so that is postiive but when I was comforting her when she was coughing it really hit me that she is very old and isn't my baby anymore Sad.

She has lasted for DD's birthday but I am not sure she will make her own Sad.

I have just put a towel on the sofa for her to sit on, just in case, but she wasn't impressed and has jumped down on to the floor.

My cat is getting to the end of her life and I am not sure I will ever get over it Blush.

She means the world to me, is the only thing in the world that is 100% mine, and I will miss her so much.

I am spending lots more on catfood for the Changecats, both of whom are playing mercilessly on anxiety that neither get ill

JustFabulous · 26/08/2012 12:33

FABCat had trouble jumping on to the sofa again last night. She dug a claw in to stop herself falling backwards. Into my toe.

Glad to hear FABcat is still hanging on in there but owwwww lots of sympathies regarding your toe!

My little moggie is highly pissed off this morning as ds has just got a mid-sleeper bed and moggie hasn't worked out how to get up there yet. It's the cat equivalent of a practical IQ test. Grin

cozietoesie · 26/08/2012 12:45

Sorry, edam - it's actually an example of highly developed training of owners. She's waiting until DS or you have learned to put her up there without her having to exert any effort !

Grin
JustFabulous · 26/08/2012 13:09

SO true, cozietoesie!

Cats are genuises. They never do anything if they can get their minion to do it for them.

OP posts:
edam · 26/08/2012 17:32

cozie, yeah, I know, cats train humans to obey their every whim... Grin But our cat is pissed off at not being able to get up there when HE chooses or get down when HE chooses (three storey house so he can't rely on me hearing his protests).

JustFabulous · 27/08/2012 16:55

I am overwhelmed with the love FABCat has shown me today.

I have been confined to bed and guess how many times she has come upstairs to see if I am okay?

OP posts:
edam · 27/08/2012 17:05

None? Grin

Either that or lots.

edam · 27/08/2012 17:05

(Hope you feel lots better v v soon btw)

JustFabulous · 27/08/2012 17:27

None. Not a single one.

I will let her off though as she isn't well.

I am hoping to sneak down later and have a cuddle with her.

4 days until her birthday

changeforthebetter · 27/08/2012 22:41

Aww - my girlcat loves it when I'm ill Hmm (full day of cuddles and snoozing)

FabCat go and see to your mistress!!

JustFabulous · 28/08/2012 11:31

Just back from vet £38 poorer after picking up 2 boxes of tablets for her.

She has been licking the carpet quite a bit. Does anyone have an idea why?

She has jumped up next to me on the sofa just now so that is nice. I could do with having her sat on my knee to stroke for hours as DD and DS2 have been very trying this morning. I managed to sprain my foot again to when I needed to get hold of DD so I am feeling pretty fed up.

DD and DS2 go back to school tomorrow and I am going to miss them so wanted a day full of treats and fun but now I am Sad and not feeling like I want too.

Just had to fish FABCat off the table where DS1 was baking. Naughty bad bad cat!

Hmm, so she can get up on the chair and then on to the table...

When she wants to, sure!

Vets' costs are eyewatering aren't they. Am hoping one of DCs will grow up and become a vet Grin

JustFabulous · 28/08/2012 20:05

I completely ran out of money 2 weeks ago and it is because of all the vets bills. Hopefully we will get most if not all back though.

OP posts:
edam · 28/08/2012 22:15

Hope you do manage to claim it back - vet's bills are hideous. Friend of mine is a vet, years of penury while training but doing very nicely indeed now. I try not to be too jealous!

Glad to hear FABcat is still doing well. Smile

changeforthebetter · 28/08/2012 22:16

Yes, I had £1k tucked away for emergencies - it is no more.

I went out tonight for a walk and saw a cat just like ChangeCat2 Sad. I talked to him and he eyed me in that maddeningly superior way cats do Grin

JustFabulous · 29/08/2012 06:34

I have had FABCat insured since she was about 7 weeks old and with the same company for ten years or more. They were happy to take my money for all that time then dumped us once she got too old Angry. A couple of months ago they wrote and offered us better cover so I assume they were given a bollocking from those in charge about how they can't just drop all their clients with 2 months notice. It is more of a palava to claim back money now though.

Sad change.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 29/08/2012 07:30

coziecat (my senior boy) was never insured when he was with my mother and when he went to the vet here for the first time, the vet's receptionist mumbled from rote 'Do you want him to have insurance?'. I gave her an old-fashioned look when she looked up and she then looked at him properly, down at his notes, blushed a little and said' Oh - I guess they wouldn't take him on, would they?' 'Not a chance' said I. (A then 16 year old Siamese with existing health problems?)

So I just have to pay up and economize in other ways. Extraordinary how vet bills vary though. I think my vet is quite reasonable (oldish practice so not paying for swanky premises) but some vets charge extraordinary amounts.

Sad change.

JustFabulous · 29/08/2012 09:15

I get 20% off the meds since I am not insured but if they have covered us properly I will pay the vet the discount back, once the insurers have paid us back.

Nice one, JustFabulous.

It occurred to me last night that I once had a cat treated by PDSA when I was a student with nothing but a pound of carrots to my name. I think the time is ripe for coziecat to give a little donation back to PDSA as a return. What goes around etc.

Smile

I may been shopping today and bought some prawns and roast chicken as well as a photo cake with her photo on it Grin.

PIL have just been over with her card and present and some money to buy her some food.

Who'd have thought she would make it????

BadgersRetreat · 30/08/2012 14:53

Happy Birthday Fabcat! (or is it tomorrow?)

Hope she enjoys her treats

JustFabulous · 30/08/2012 19:07

It's tomorrow.

Please don't die overnight FABCat!
