This morning she was coughing and has also had a sloppy bowel accident outside. She wasn't interested in breakfast even though I didn't come down until after 9 and she wasn't about when DH left at 7. He normally feeds her before he goes. I had to put the plate under her nose to get her to come and ear.

Her back legs are a bit wobbly and I will take her for a jab on Monday to hopefully get some relief. She didn't wee over night so that is postiive but when I was comforting her when she was coughing it really hit me that she is very old and isn't my baby anymore Sad.

She has lasted for DD's birthday but I am not sure she will make her own Sad.

I have just put a towel on the sofa for her to sit on, just in case, but she wasn't impressed and has jumped down on to the floor.

My cat is getting to the end of her life and I am not sure I will ever get over it Blush.

She means the world to me, is the only thing in the world that is 100% mine, and I will miss her so much.

Sad

Have you had a look at the Ease pages? There is some good stuff on there.

(())

We were at the vets this morning too for boosters. It was a cat-morning. I hate going there when the place is full of dogs Grin My savvy little female cat ran off before I could get her in her box. I also found out the PTS was £50 more than I was expecting - obviously wasn't thinking straight last week. And the kids played up when the vet was trying to talk to me about screening tests for older cats.

Is that the link that Sunny gave me?

This morning was dgo day at the vets. All lovely dogs but I was being over protective and trying to keep her case so no one could see her or get near. There were a couple of cats too. Last week it was cat day.

She is sleeping next to me now.

I need to try and cut down her food if possible as getting some weight off her will help with her legs.

Here you go. The practical side of things is really worth reading and useful stuff for helping kids.

Mine are behaving really badly at the moment but that may be because I am a bit less tolerant of brattish behaviour.

ChangeMasterCat has arthritis and will have to go on feline painkillers probably Sad. However, he is a good weight.

I am spoiling the cats far too much

Thank you for the link. They are unable to take on new people at the moment but I can get help from on the website. My children have been through the loss of a couple of hamsters but that was a while ago and they are going to be more devastated about the cat. She has been there all their lives. A couple of years ago they lost a great grandparent but it isn't comparable at all. I have prepared them that she is ill and we don't know how long we have her for but I am not sure what else to do.

FABCat just had biscuits for tea instead of her chunks. I don't think she was too cross. If we can get a bit of weight off it will help.

Just been and picked up SmallestFabBoy and he was so Grin that FABCat is still with us.

DC1 and 2 are in their rooms until tea is ready because they were mean to DC3 and rude to me.

DH went into a meeting at 10. He is still in it so goodness knows when he will get home tonight.

Just remembered that the vet said something about putting her on morphine something. Sounds scary to me.

How is she (and you) doing today Fab? ((()))

I saw FABCat very early thanks to the boys getting up before the birds Hmm. Happy to see she was okay though and she hadn't weed on the floor, yay! Has eaten breakfast and then we have all been out for about 3 hours. When we got back FABCat was out on the pavement Shock, it scares the life out of me when she goes that far. (Ridiculous really as we have a drive and then she steps over the line and on to the public path so it isn't miles).

She has asking for some of the kids chicken but is now sleeping next to me.

DS1 is being vile and keeps talking about when she is dead so I am a bit Angry at the moment with him.

I couldn't find FABCat. Panicked. Naughty girl was guarding the babies on the landing Shock. She hasn't done that for ages and ages.

I suspect it's probably DS1's way of starting to cope and not meant badly. Sad

Thinking of you and of all those in similar situations.

I asked him today and he said it is because FABCat will have peace from DD and DS2. They do sometimes crowd her but not enough to think death would be preferable.

She asked to go out the front this morning but I said she had to go out into the back garden if she wanted to play out. So she did Grin.

Youngsters aren't always good at handling the (prospective) death of an animal they've known and loved for a long time. Especially if they're not used to it. They don't know how to articulate their feelings. Be tolerant.

And FABcat doesn't sound that bad to me (at least today) if she's still able to gameplay with you! Wink

Bloody hell

FABCat just did a massive breath and then stopped. I practically threw my laptop down to get to her and then she moved.

She bit my earlier.

I have little chats to her and I think she knows I am her mummy Blush.

Vet tomorrow for another jab, neighbour might be sitting with the kids for me. Vet booked double appointment . I think he wants to talk..

It would never be good timing to lose her but tbh the kids are being PITA at the moment and I woud be even less good if I had to grief too.

We were in a similar situation last October. It's awful to face this loss. FWIW the kids will probably grieve with you and be lovely.
Still miss my gorgeous boy but thankful for all the memories.

As I said - be brave. Losing a dear friend is hard but don't make her go longer than her time.

Thinking of you.

No, I wouldn't let her suffer.

DH said last night he thinks we have spent £36,000 on her Grin.

Oh he wasn't moaning. He has paid all her costs for the last 12 years as I haven't worked for that long. He will miss her and will be upset for me but probably won't cry. He isn't a crier. A hanful of times maybe in the 16 years we have been together.
