Could anyone advise me on how to find an injured cat please?

Hello,

I've had a handwritten note put through my door from someone saying that they saw a dog 'viscously mauling' a cat and they wanted to let me know because they thought the cat might live with me.

I don't have any pets but hate to think of the poor thing injured and frightened.

I have checked my sheds and hidey holes in the garden and had a quick bike around the area to look for it but found nothing.

There is no blood or fur etc outside my home so it might be a very strange wind up but wondered if anyone who knew cats could think of anything else I could do. My neighbours are all away but worryingly I haven't seen their cats but thats probably just because they are staying in a cattery or something.

An injured cat will be hiding so you have done the right thing by searching - check any hedges and under bushes as well.

It will be scared, so even if you find it you may not be able to catch it - we had an injured stray cat in the field ajoining our garden and it took a week before we could catch it - mainly because by this point it was starving.

you could also ring round local vets and see if anyone took the cat to a vets you never know long shot but maybe other than as above if the cat is alive (or exists) will have crawled into hiding and sadly unless you search evrey garden ten each way from you either side you may never find out, one of mine did a disapearing act the other night i went all round the area looking for him got home and he was on the doorstep god knows where he had been cos i didnt see him and hes a big cat
