I was following Toddle's kittenwatch thread for a couple of days and decided that it was time to get a cat. DP didn't take any persuading at all as he used to have cats:) We visited local rescue centre, have been cleared by a home visit and are now adopting two lovely boys. They're due to arrive home on Saturday and I wanted to make sure we have everything they will initially need (bearing in mind they have to stay inside for three-four weeks).

  • cat beds
  • litter tray
  • food bowl/water bowl - I'm assuming we will need one of each per cat
  • litter
  • food
  • cat carriers (2)
  • toys

Am I missing anything?

just a word of warning though, none of my cats ever used their beds. Also as you will be keeping them indoors for a while, I would recommend a scratcher so that they don't scratch the furniture. the favorite in my house seems to be the simple pole with ball on string attached to it. the kittens i foster are especially partial to it as they can scratch and play.

That's a scratching post added to the list:-) thank you!

Since you're getting two cats, you'll need another litter tray. The general rule of thumb is one per cat, plus one to spare, but you can probably get away with two.

How exciting, you will have lots of fun with them :)

Ooh congratulations!! What are their names?

MinkyWinky · 23/05/2012 09:41

Okay, so need to get a scratching post and at least another litter tray.

They're names are Wellington and Pookie - although he's only had that name for two weeks, so will probably change it:) Only four days to go:o

How was your first day?

MinkyWinky · 27/05/2012 17:29

They arrived safe and sound:) They meowed through most of the journey home, but seemed to have settled very quickly. They like being in the same room as us last thing and first thing and come for cuddles once they've been fed. They've spent the afternoon sleeping, one on the stairs, the other under the sofa. We're just making sure they have space when they need it:). They are looooovely:o
