He managed to get himself home, went to call him in at bed time and he didn't come, noticed him just sat by the window so i knew something was wrong (as he always comes and answers when i call), i carried him in and noticed blood on his ear, he was struggling to walk, tried to jump over the stair gate but couldn't Sad, i then spent an hour trying to get him out from under dd1's bed, he let me check him over and i phoned the vet for advice. I took him in this morning (after staying up all night with him).

I thought he had a head injury as his eye was closed and bleeding, luckily it wasn't a head injury just gravel in his eye. His back end was hit and his tail broken. He's now home and has too be caged for a week so his tail can heal, we are also waiting to see if there are any other injuries (so far it just looks like bruising). He's looking very sorry for himself and doesn't like the cage (he just wants cuddles). We go on holiday on monday so we will be leaving him with my brother who is house sitting, i'm a bit worried as my brother will be working during the day so the cat will be left on his own (i guess he will be ok as he has to rest in the cage anyway). Keeping my fingers crossed that her perks up soon and his tail mends.

Thank you, i think we are very lucky that he returned home and lucky that there was not too much damage (apart from the £200 damage to my bank account). He's just sat in his cage looking out Sad.

Angel- so sorry for your loss (poor baby).

The poor dog is sulking as she loves the cat and now can't cuddle up with it, i dread to think how the dog would have been if we lost him Sad.

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/05/2012 13:47

Your poor cat, he is alive though and will heal.

Marne · 19/05/2012 20:17

He was very lucky, could have been so much worse.

Anyone got any tips on keeping him happy in a cage? he's getting very upset, i did take him out for a cuddle but then her tried to jump down from the sofas so he's gone back in the cage Sad, he just sits in the cage and wont lie down so he's not sleeping.

Poor thing :( maybe put some toys in with him, some soft mice or something so he won't feel so lonely.

Have you put a blanket/towel in the cage just to make it more comfy?

Marne · 19/05/2012 21:13

He's not happy at all (getting very noisy), he has a towel, food and dirt box in there but theres not a huge amount of room. I'm wondering if i should shut him in the bathroom tonight as thats where he usualy sleeps at night (we shut him in at night), theres not much he can hurt himself on (unless he tries to jump up into the sink (which is where he likes to sleep). Do you think he would be ok in there?

Unless the vet has told you not to, I would. It might make him feel as if he has his normal routine and help him "relax" a bit. The cage could just be getting to him :-(

timtam23 · 19/05/2012 22:47

Your poor cat, I'm glad he seems to have suffered no major injury. Has he got any favourite toys which you could put into the crate with him? Or perhaps something with catnip in, if he likes catnip? My cats would love catnip & would probably play with a pingpong ball or similar

hope he gets better soon

Marne · 20/05/2012 08:46

Thank you, i shut him in the bathroom last night and gave him my dressing gown which he slept on, he's now in his cage but not happy, he's a lap cat and loves to be near me (touching me) at all times so he's finding it hard being shut away. I am a little worried as he is no doing his buisness (no1's and 2's), vet said to keep an eye as he could have internal injuries, if he doesn't go by tuesday he has to go back to the vets.

He's happy when i let him out for a cuddle Smile but i wont be here next week to do that. Vet said 'he needs to stay in the cage' (not really ment to let him out) mainly to stop him jumping around, buthe's getting really upset being in there and just wont settle. I might let him have dd1's room when we are away, my brother will be about later in the day and over night so he can let him out for a cuddle.

Feliway is something I've heard mentioned a lot on here.
Poor little boy but he is alive. Fingers crossed he isn't too bored in his cage.

Marne · 21/05/2012 08:23

Seems a bit better this morning, has poo'd and eaten some breakfast, i let him sleep in the bathroom again last night so he has had time out of the cage and we had a cuddle last night (on my lap). Hopfuly he's on the mend and will be better when we get home on friday.

Awh I'm so sorry OP. I hope he feels better soon.

My cat got hit just before Christmas and broke his pelvis. He pulled through just fine ( feeling v sorry for himself). Cats are v resilient.
