I'm so worried about My Cat, He has not been seen since friday night. This is so not like him. We moved here in December and he has been fine with the move, he used to go disappear for days at our old house but since we moved here he has been in most of the time, he goes out but only for a couple of hours then comes back. I have been filling his food bowl in the back room and his window is open (its always open for him) the food is vanishing on a night time but no sign of my baby. I dont know whether another cat is eating the food as Floyd would not eat then go (he likes his home comforts too much) He sleeps in between me and dp so would make a lot of noise to come in if he came back at night. He is not a young Cat he is 9. I have phoned vets to see if anyone has handed him in and i'm going to put posters up today, Me and dp walked round whole village yesterday looking for him. i just dont know what else to do and feel completely helpless :( :( :(
I lost My little Cat in august last year, 2 weeks before his first birthday, He was poisoned and died in my arms, It was the most horrific thing I've seen and I was distraught for weeks, it was awful and infuriating when people said 'these things happen' or 'its just a cat, get over it and get another one'. I dont know what I'll do if anything has happend to my Baby. I have managed to not cry so far but writing this has set me off now. Thanks for reading.

It is still early days, so don't give up hope. The leaflets are a good idea, also posters on lamposts. Tell the postman/binmen etc.

Tell the local cat rescues too.

Is he wearing a collar and microchipped?

It may be that he is in someone's shed or garage, so be sure to ask them to check on your leaflets.

AngelWreakinHavoc · 01/05/2012 10:26

Thanks Sparkling

I'm hoping he is just locked in somewhere, the weather has been terrible here so i'm wondering if he has found shelter then got locked in. i have locked him in my own shed before not realising he was in there.

He isnt wearing a collar as I'm always scared he will get caught on something as he came home with his front leg caught in his collar when he was younger and he isnt microchipped either.

Fingers crossed the leaflets will bring some news. x

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/05/2012 11:25

When you get him back please get him chipped, it's not expensive.

Have you rung the council? if you explain what's happened the refuse and collections dept keep records of any pets found. They have scanners for microchips too.

I'd ring all the local vets too and see if any cats have been bought in injured plus resuce centres.

AngelWreakinHavoc · 01/05/2012 19:00

I certainly will be getting him chipped as soon as he comes home. Posters are up now so its just a waiting game.

The posters worked but I didnt get what I wanted to hear. A lovely Lady has called to say a cat was ran over outside the pub Friday night, He was in a bad way so someone put him out of his misery. I've just had another call from the pub who has told me where he is, The lady from the pub told me he was next to the little bridge where the stream is (20 yrds from my house) I couldnt bare to look so she looked for me and said he is in the stream. I am waiting for my partner to come home now so we can get him. I feel so guilty he is there but I dont want to see him like that knowing he was in a bad way and has been there for 5 days thats not how I want to remember him.I think our friend is going to come get him out for us and confirm that its him so we dont have to see him. I'm devastated and My partner will be too

Oh Angel I am so sorry. I know exactly how you feel as the same sort of thing happened to me. Coco was missing for 5 days then someone found her dead. I had to send Dad to go and get her.

Hopefully your DP will be back soon and you can go and get Floyd.

Sparklingbrook · 02/05/2012 18:47

Oh, I'm sorry. Just re read and your friend is going.

Are you ok Angel? Thinking of you. x

AngelWreakinHavoc · 03/05/2012 20:19

Thank You so much for Your kindness. Its been a very tearful time for us all. At least he is home now where he belongs and we are not worried about his wareabouts. Its such a shame, he was my best mate.

I felt much calmer when I knew what had happened. I was devastated I had lost her, but the wondering was over, and I could grieve IYKWIM?

Poor Floyd Sad

AngelWreakinHavoc · 03/05/2012 21:27

Thank You. Does anyone have any advice on what to tell my dd? She is 10 and lives with her dad but is with me at weekends, floyd was her best friend, They were inseparable and it is going to hit her hard, From the age of 3 she has wanted to be a vet and love animals so much. My ds (15) says I shouldnt tell her he was run over but tell her he died of old age, I'm not sure she will accept that as she seen him fit and healthy on friday the day he went missing. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I think you will have to be honest and tell her he was hit by a car. I have a 10 year old DS and he would accept that upsetting though it is. Sad

crazynanna · 03/05/2012 21:36

Agree with Sparkling and tell her the truth. I don't know if I would tell her that poor floyd was not found for a few days' and was down by the river, though.

AngelWreakinHavoc · 03/05/2012 21:47

Thank You both, I think its best to tell her the truth but I was going to say it happened instant and he was in no pain and was also going to say someone come and got me as soon as it happened so he came straight home. I want to make it as painless as possible for her. The last time she seen him was when my dp told her not to play with Floyd in the front garden as he may go near the road. I feel awful that that was the last time she seen him. not for one minute was this her fault or anyone elses and I hope she doesnt remember that was the last time she seen him.

Sparklingbrook · 03/05/2012 21:48

No, I would just keep it to being hit by a car. Sad

Sparklingbrook · 03/05/2012 21:49

Yes, I think what you are planning to say to her is about right.

alabasterangel · 03/05/2012 22:30

Big sympathies from here too after a hard cat loss week.

My DD proved to surprise us all with her maturity ( much younger tho) and I'm sure your DD will be just as lovely.

Hard times, I know... :(

tb · 04/05/2012 10:12
