Introducing a dog to house of four cats

We have four cats ( 3 of which are indoor cats) but are looking to re-home a Jack Russell pup 9 months old who lives with a cat in his current home.

Can this work do you think? I don't want my cats to be upset. If we get the pup he will have a cage to sleep in at night so he wouldn't be able to bother the cats or them bother him.

Would really appreciate any advice/tips on introducing him and not rocking the boat (too much)

Frakly, I wouldn't mix a puppy Jack Russel puppy with mature, settled cats.

where are you getting him from? would it be possible to bring him into your house just in the daytime for a few days and go from there? sort of a trial run?

Thanks for your replies. We went to see the dog today but no cat in sight and we really wanted to see for ourselves if he was OK with them. He seemed very hyper too so we decided for the sake of our cats not to take him ( they live quite far away so it wouldn't have been feasible to do trial run)
