Help - my neighbours cat wants to live with us and doesn't seem to be taking no for an answer!

New family moved into the close about 6 months ago and have in the last month or so been invaded by their cat. We haven't fed it and have tried to discourage it from coming in the house - now that it is summer it is impossible to keep him out as our back door is always open and as soon as he hears us in the garden he comes rushing round.

We had two cats til recently when one died before christmas and the remaining cat seems to like the company of the visitor. Our cat is always wiggling up to the visiting cat. The other cat gets a bit dominant every now and again but doesn't seem to bother our cat particularly.

Just went upstairs and found him asleep on the bed so have sent him home!

Has he adopted us? And can we do anything to stop it!?

No you can't, cats choose where they want to be :)

a cat did this to a neighbour
neighbour found cat's family and had a discussion
cat was miserable with family, family fed up with cat, cat wanted to live with neighjbour
humans agreed that was fine all round and all was happy ever after

but the discussion bit was key I think
