I have just taken delivery of two gorgeous new arm chairs. My first proper, grown up furniture and do not want them shredded at the edges like my cheapy sofas are/were

Does the sticky stuff show?
My cats are outdoors to differing extents. I think I might have to get a scratching post but they aren't very attractive are they.
