2 rescue cats arriving tomorrow...questions! Can anyone advise me?

2 lovely Siamese males are arriving tomorrow...we've been aproved as their new owners...I have met them and they're gorgeous...can't wait. They're happy and well adjusted cats....where is the best place to put their litter tray? I can't think of putting it in the kitchen....would it be ok in the hallway?

Also can anyone recomend good cheap insurance for them please? Any tips on settling them?

Put the tray somewhere a bit out of the way and where they are unlikley to be disturbed while using it - so no busy through routes.

For settling - I'd put them in one room initially and leave them for a while to calm down if they are nervous/jumpy. Then let them explore in their own good time.

Right....so not in the hallway! I have a corner of the dining room which will be quiet.

I am so excited I can barely contain myself. I honestly have not felt like this since I was a kid! I have wanted a cat or cats for 20 years! Finally! Finally!

Oo we have two rescue kittens arriving soon! (A couple of weeks away as they are not yet weaned - but v v v exciting).

Can I hijack your thread and ask if anyone has any tips for training kittens to use a scratching post? We inherited our last cat as an elderly and very scratchy pensioner, and never managed to persuade him to use a post. He preferred the sofa.

Wondering how best to introduce the kittens to the idea of a post - I don't want a second sofa to bite the dust.

congrats on your cats! How old are yours going to be?

We are waiting for our approval visit but I hope [cross fingers] that it should be fine. We don't have 100 Ways to Cook a Cat books lying around or anything sinister.

2 cats may need more than 1 litter tray - maybe up to three. Cats can be fussy.......

Good Luck Our cat is insured with pet plan. It's £10 a month but that covers her for the lifetime of any condition. A lot of policies only cover for the first year so something to look out for. One year is no good for diabetes or kidney failure etc.

Ours used the post straightaway. It's a big one bout 2ft high so I think it reminds them of trees.

Get a big round post and spray catnip stuff on it, think it's called crazy kitty??.

Northern I refuse to give them 3 trays! They had one in the cat home and one in their own home which was outside....they are used to going out so then I will not need a crappy tray in the house!

We have not got a post...never thought....last nighthe bigger cat went nuts on our sofa! I didn't have the heart to say no....he was so happy looking!

Ok - I'll just get the post and cross my fingers! We had such a futile time trying to persuade the last cat to use it, think I am secretly convinced they will just look at it in disgust and turn up their noses. But maybe if I catch them young and impressionable...
