Our cat has been away for 2 weeks now. The dc keep asking if she'll come back and I was saying she might. But it doesnt look likely now? We live in a rural area and I would have seen if she'd been run over. Im surprised at her leaving as we had kept one of her kittens. He is 6 months and they would still have curled up together.

My cat was away for three years when I was a child, so don't give up hope just yet.

My little girl followed me to the staion one morning. One and a half miles. She kept on mewing, because she was out of her territory.

It was awful. I kept on trying to hide from her so she would go home, and a couple of times when she found me I asked her to go home. I told the men in the station and gave them a number to call if she turned up. Then I called dh and told him to walk to the station calling her name.

She didn't come back. I called all the local charities and vets. I thought for four hours overtime was it worth it...no.

My dd and I carried on looking for her and then she just reappeared.

I think three days later. She is an amazing cat. She follows me around the village and waits outside shops and then trots along with me to the next shop. She has even spent an evening in the pub car park until I will go home.

Anyway I hope moggy makes it back, I think they will if they can.

try calling your local rescue centres and vets, it's a good starting point and a sympathetic ear.

I hope you get your cat back. Sometimes they do just nick off if there is a farm and better hunting. It would be nice to know that she is happy.

I love my little girl cat, best wishes to you.

Mine was gone for about 4/5 months and came back just fine on his own.

My father had a cat when he young and his mum hated it, so she gave it to a passing thoiugh workman who lived in Blackpool. He lived in Jarrow at the time.

A year after she had given it away, the cat turned up on the doorstep.

My in-laws cat disappeared in the spring, came back a couple of weeks ago. So don't give up hope. But don't hold your breath either, you could be in for a long wait.

A client's cat finally made it home after 4 years.

One of mine used to go for a few days at a time. My brothers cat went walkabout for a month one summer.

I wrote this thread re my neighbours cat re-appearing after they went on holiday one year :)

My old boy went missing when he was 2 and returned when he was 7, just 3 weeks after his brother had been killed on the road behind our house.
