How to tell if a cat is pregnant?

My 10-month-old cat may be pregnant Confused - we just 'inherited' her from my brother and were intending to get her spayed in the next couple of months.

She eats quite well and is looking very thick around the middle but her nipples are not overly pink?

Anyone have any idea short of taking her to the vet?

The only way we worked out our first cat was pregnant was when she started "investigating" possible birthing sites. It wasn't all that long before the actual birthing, mind you, just a few days.

You can sometimes feel kittens in the tummy, I would take her to a vet to be sure.

Cat pregnancy lasts about 9 weeks, so it won't be long... the hair around her nipples will fall out as her belly grows.

Our cat began to sleep in an odd position (more on her side or sometimes flat on her front with her hind legs splayed out behind her) & in unusual places (the middle of the hall floor rather than the sofa), she also spent a lot more time hanging round me than she did before. then she got a tummy like a barrel - that was the real giveaway!
