Waterproof trousers

Blissfultiggy · 20/09/2025 14:07

I’m a stay at home mam to toddlers and I refuse to spend the winter indoors.

I’ve kitted the kids up with decent wellies and waterproof warm rainsuits but I need something for myself.

I’ve got a good coat but I’m stuck for what trousers, I’m after something waterproof, comfortable and reasonably priced please if anyone can recommend anything

Where do you live? I raised mine without ever hankering for Pair of waterproof trousers
And we were out in all weathers!

what a palaver when you head out!

What a strange comment! It’s just a pair of trousers!

op…. Waterproof trousers are a staple in winter in our house.

Montane do some great, reasonably priced ones

Are you always so unpleasant?

"I don't do a thing, so why should you want to do a thing?" (that loads of other people actually do).

What an odd comment!

I like the look of those M&S trousers, I have been looking for something similar, as I find that long parkas impede my pacing.

Joining as I also need some waterproof trousers - overtrousers-type thing. Just looked up Montane and they were £140, which is approximately 7x more than I was hoping to spend. Any budget recommendations highly appreciated.

itsgettingweird · 20/09/2025 16:51

I brought fisherman’s ones (Amazon iirc!).

reason being is they are like dungarees and so stay up well and if I was bending over a lot it stopped a gap between my coat and trousers and cold and wet getting in. They also have a popper on the bottom of the leg.
mainly because I always found waterproof trousers shorter in the body than normal trousers (on me anyway!)

They are also really comfortable.

I’ve also found also and Lidl do waterproofs at times and they’ve lasted well too and were a reasonable length.

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 20/09/2025 16:55

I've got the M&S ones in black - they're good and not too rustly.

24Dogcuddler · 20/09/2025 16:56

Look on Mountain Warehouse and Regatta. Regatta have waterproof overtrousers for £15 half price.

I had some decent waterproof leggings from either Lidl or Aldi

BoarBrush · 20/09/2025 16:58

I just bought these. I'm rather chuffed with them

I use craghoppers for dog walking in the winter. Warm and dry.

Thank you. I can’t even begin to think how uncomfortable it would be to walk for an afternoon in the pouring rain with wet jeans!

I’ll take a look at montane, thank you so much

I second these! I think they say water resistant rather than waterproof but they are brilliant and I’ve never felt wet and uncomfortable in them. They are so cosy and fit well under wellies.

My husband has rustly over trouser things but I didn’t fancy that. Although it might be handy to have a pair of those in the car in case you get caught out.

Wet jeans are the worst!

TheeNotoriousPIG · 21/09/2025 11:55

I work on a dairy farm, which involves a lot of bodily fluids and water. I can vouch for Swampmaster waterproofs, as I remain clean and dry underneath them, even after a 14-hour shift 😊

APC303 · 02/10/2025 18:37

Decathlon Quecha are around £40 and are decent.

Silverbirchleaf · 02/10/2025 18:38

Any camping and outdoor shop will sell them - Regatta, Trepass. Mountain warehouse etc. I use walking trousers if light rain is forecast, as they dry quickly.
