Flora or Fauna.

Extra points for a photo.

Handicap will apply to those in Forrin. Monthly win will not automatically go to, for example, a Cougar spot. The Cougar will need to be doing something awesome, like fighting a bear or doing sudoku.

Oh! Today I saw some seals on the rocks! I'll try and get a pic if they're there tomorrow.

ArielNonBio · 14/03/2012 17:37

OK, NorthPole, just for you:
I was on a little walk between two villages and the tide was low. There was a stiffish easterly blowing which meant that the lee of the little island near the shore was the side nearest the shore. And there was a couple lazing there in the misty sun, stretching and yawning as the low tide deposited them high and dry. One was a massive, handsome fellow with silvery fur, and the other was smaller and more mottled.

Not as poetic as you

Northey · 14/03/2012 17:40

No no! Tides and lees and easterlies and misty suns all impressively evocative. "stiffish" raised a smirk. But then I am childish.

I have a couple of blackbirds nesting in my bush.

(Wordsworth I ain't)

GrimmaTheNome · 14/03/2012 19:34

There's always someone going to lower the tone, isn't there?

Ent spot! Oh ok, I'm watching Lord of the Rings.

ExitPursuedByABear · 14/03/2012 22:39

Are we going off the rails somewhat?

GrimmaTheNome · 14/03/2012 23:22

Are we going off the rails somewhat?

probably. Rails are very elusive, its years since I've seen one (it was at Slimbridge WWT)

ExitPursuedByABear · 15/03/2012 08:55

Not sure I have ever seen one.

iseenodust · 15/03/2012 10:30

Although I could hear the tell-tale tapping tones
the twisting tenacious tendrils
meant I couldn't see the wood (pecker) for the trees.

Northey · 15/03/2012 10:31

Maybe we should have had our sit-in in Creative Writing.

FryingNemo · 15/03/2012 11:08

I have just seen three red squirrels scampering across a mossy bolder dappled by the first rays of the sun breaking through the morning mist.

Too vomit inducing?

3 red squirrels at side of road.

ArielNonBio · 15/03/2012 11:09

Oh my!

AIBUqatada · 15/03/2012 11:10

.. or since we are in a football topic we should make the spots more sporty: I saw some bluebell shoots, where the ground was marked by badger-claw scores, at the open mouth of the sett, but the badger let himself down with some blatent fouling.

AIBUqatada · 15/03/2012 11:12

re red suirrels. There are supposed to be some i our region, but I never spot any, even at Keilder, where they have a stronghold.

FryingNemo · 15/03/2012 11:13

Ok, my red squirrels were off side.

FryingNemo · 15/03/2012 11:13

Of the road.

Boom boom!

AIBUqatada · 15/03/2012 11:13
Grin
GrimmaTheNome · 15/03/2012 14:10

Frying...where is it you live? Is red the usual colour of squirrel?

My sightings this morning didn't start too well...leopard slug on my windowledge basil plant urghhh.

Improved with some curlew and redshank in the Wyre estuary. Extracting shellfish from mud, I suppose they might have been dribbling Hmm

ArielNonBio · 15/03/2012 15:40

OK, this isn't exactly wildlife but is too sweet not to tell you about. Four wee donkeys live in a field down the road and they always trot over to say hello. This morning one of them was wearing a brand new bright red coat and one had a bright blue one on

GrimmaTheNome · 15/03/2012 16:00

Donkeys are Outdoorsy and make copious shite so I'm sure they qualify.

FryingNemo · 15/03/2012 17:24

@Grimma - I live in Forrin in a tiny village surrounded by forests (Luxembourg). I have yet to see a grey squirrel here but reds are 10 a penny. The locals look at me strangely when I enthuse about them.

GrimmaTheNome · 15/03/2012 17:48

That's what I thought... so for points in this game you need to see grey or black squirrels. Wink
