Flora or Fauna.

Extra points for a photo.

Handicap will apply to those in Forrin. Monthly win will not automatically go to, for example, a Cougar spot. The Cougar will need to be doing something awesome, like fighting a bear or doing sudoku.

Norf that was just beautiful! Grin

There is a lamp post near by house with a huge mass of ivy growing round and whenever I pass it, it's emanating the deafening cheep of what sounds like hundreds of sparrows. I'm always so tempted to tiptoe up and shout "BOO!" just to see what happens.

Northey · 14/03/2012 11:33

Stop copying my sparrow scene-setting! Bloody atmospheric lamp posts in the mist.

ArielNonBio · 14/03/2012 11:42

Sorry I'm sure

They will be starlings next time. In the sun.

AIBUqatada · 14/03/2012 11:44

Oh no, conflict! There will be a topic schism. And someone will go off and form the Mouldie Shites.

ArielNonBio · 14/03/2012 11:46

Grin I daren't form a schism because no one would come with me.

Northey · 14/03/2012 11:49

Well I would have done. Before this.

ExitPursuedByABear · 14/03/2012 11:54

You see, I haven't mentioned all the jackdaws/crows/rooks (never know the bloody difference) that gather in the trees at dawn before rising into the air with a cacophony of sound as they head off for the days feeding, returning noisily at dusk to to descend on their roost for the twilight hours.

Did anyone see the conjunction of Venus and Jupiter yesterday evening? Twas fab.

ArielNonBio · 14/03/2012 11:58

Will it still be there for a few nights? Whenever there is a celestial marvel, the fog and cloud descends.

Northey · 14/03/2012 12:11

Was Mars visible last night? I saw something planet-like with a distinctly red tinge to it.

Slubberdegullion · 14/03/2012 13:05

V moved by Northey's sparrows. Most evocative.

Also love the fox curled up on a car roof. badasss urban spot.

Hopeless, hopeless fauna spotting today. I blame my most untechnical and fearsomely noisy courdroy trousers.

However I have manage some pretty lame flora so here goes...

Fluffy bud

Silken bud

Incongruous Daffodils with Canoeist OUTDOORSY SHITE DEFCON 2

Ancient looking fungus

Dead tree in which a wood-nymph resides

Some random small purple flower

Yes yes, before you all start I know alright, they are not identified. I might will get round to that if someone indictes I have spotted something rare I can find the time.

I feel I should at least get a point or two for effort.

TunipTheVegemal · 14/03/2012 13:15

I like your buds, though I can't identify them. Your purple flower looks like a violet.

AIBUqatada · 14/03/2012 13:37

Top budwork there, especially the first one.

Pussy willow Slubber :)

Ariel-lovely part of the world :) I'm south coast.

FryingNemo · 14/03/2012 13:47

Are celestial bodies allowed?

ArielNonBio · 14/03/2012 13:49
FryingNemo · 14/03/2012 13:49

Actually tree thing vairy nice. Maybe I will get this picaassa thingie set up and post pictures of our Ents.

SeaShellsDreamingOfSummer · 14/03/2012 13:49

If they were up to cool stuff (Uranus rings are not cool.
It ain't Friday night) then I should think so? Is Mars visible? I'm sore I also
Saw a red one (technical term like) in the south east last night.

ArielNonBio · 14/03/2012 13:50

Mars is visible in the south east at the moment. Yes indeed.

SeaShellsDreamingOfSummer · 14/03/2012 13:57

Sore=sure. Terrible misspelling juxtaposition next to Uranus joke. Really must proof read when I'm on my phone Blush Grin

Slubberdegullion · 14/03/2012 14:15

Do you think so Tunip. That's nice then, a wild violet. Tiny they were.

Seashells are both my bud shots from Pussies? [Frankie Howerd Eider Drake emoticon]

No planet spotting here Sad damnable light pollution.

OP posts:
TunipTheVegemal · 14/03/2012 14:18

next time you see one, get down and have a sniff. They are lovely. (Though yours seemed to be surrounded by wild garlic so perhaps the violet smell would be drowned out.)

AIBUqatada · 14/03/2012 14:21

I think they are both willow. Am I right in thinking that the fluffy one will be usually seen at the riverside and the other one in a non-rivery hedgerow?

Slubberdegullion · 14/03/2012 14:23

I thought it was wild garlic! I will get down and sniff the violet next time and take a few leaves of the garlic while I'm at it.

Nemo did you say Ents. Cos if you live in Middle Earth I'm afraid I don't think you should be allowed to play with us at all.

OP posts:
Slubberdegullion · 14/03/2012 14:26

qatada certainly all the fluffy ones were along the banks of the river.

OP posts:
FryingNemo · 14/03/2012 14:51

We call them Ents although the uninitiated think they are oak trees.

Mind you the boar round here could pass as wargs... except the cutesy ickle baby ones.
