Coat for very small dog

Can anyone tell me where to get a coat for a small dog? I have bought a couple of coats online but they swamp her, even though I have measured her back length. She needs something like a fleece and also a waterproof coat preferably with a belly cover as it is very muddy around here in the winter.

Why is it swamping her? Is it that she is very slim/slight?
How long is her back?
And what breed?
Equafleece is good for fleeces and they do slim and superslim fit in some sizes.
Edited to say Etsy might be an option if you need custom made.

My little dog wears Equafleece jumpers, they're warm and cosy and fit well.

She is a Papillion - they don't have an undercoat so she needs something waterproof and also a warm fleece for cold days. The coats I have ordered are too wide so the Equifleece slim/superslim fit sounds interesting.

I had a similar problem to you @Butterflydog - coats that covered my little dog's back properly were too big around the rest of her body. She really feels the cold and hates getting rained on because she also lacks an undercoat. The equafleece jumper is perfect for her. I bought the slim or superslim, I can't remember which.

My small and slim Maltese X has an equafleece slim for fleece which works well for her.

Equafleece are really helpful with finding the right size. Take measurements and give them a ring.

My 4kg chihuahua wears dog coats from Barbour (bit extravagant I know but they are really good coats) in size XS. They don’t have to be pulled over his head which he would hate which is also good.

Equafleece for awkward sized dogs definitely.

Mine has a tiny neck, deep chest and high wast tuck, long body 😂 Nothing off the rack fits her right but equafleece combos work great

I used to get equafleece for my little dog, sadly no longer with us. He was quite rotund and long bodied but had short legs so I’d buy one to fit his body and shorten the legs 🥰

If you’re really desperate, cut the sleeve off an old sweatshirt, use the cuff around your dog’s neck and two little holes for its front legs. Then adjust for belly and tail.

@Sparklehorse47 sorry you lost your boy. He sounds so cute from your description.

Equafleece are great but if you want more of a traditional raincoat, have a look at Non-stop dogwear. My dog is slim built and they fit her well. They also have adjustment points to help them fit better. I like Equafleece for warm but prefer a more traditional raincoat for wet weather. Although the Equafleece is waterproof it kind of gets heavy with the rain.

@redboxer321 that was the brand I bought and exactly the type of raincoat I would like but it was too wide on her. Maybe I wasn't adjusting it correctly - I might contact their customer services to see if they have any advice.

Oh how funny! I'm surprised that one was too wide but I know what you mean about coats being too wide. Good idea to have a chat with customer services. Hope you find a solution.
