Hit me with your suggestions please! Percy is fully vaccinated and ready for adventures.. I however am not because I don’t own a weatherproof coat, nor do I own wellies or boots! TIA

Here’s a picture of my sweet (and a little naughty) pooch 🐾

Seasalt Janelle. Perfect for the purpose.

Didrikson Erika, walking boots when not too wet and Muck boots for v wet/muddy times

Cuppachuchu · 12/10/2026 12:03

😍 Percy is very cute.

I wear a Regatta coat for dog walking, a jacket when rainy but not cold, and a long quilted coat in proper winter. With wellies.

Nincompoo · 12/10/2026 12:05

Love a whippet! He is gorgeous!

I walk miles and miles in my Muckboots. I’ve got real ones and knock off ones from Aldi and the knockoffs are more comfortable.

PhyllisBide · 12/10/2026 12:10

Beautiful!

I have a Didrikson coat which I keep just for dog walking so I can cram the pockets full of paraphernalia and aigle short wellies.

As pp say, you need a coat with plenty of pockets.
Paramo make good stuff if you live somewhere really wet and I fear that will be much of the UK this winter.
I can't wear wellies so it's walking boots for me. I have some waterproof socks too for really wet days.

Have you thought about pup too? I'd recommend Hurtta, Non-stop dogwear and Pomppa. He might need some pyjamas/house coat too. Mine has an Equafleece for that. If he's still growing, I'd buy second hand. Loads on eBay.

Seasalt Plant Hunter and Grisport Peaklander boots is my perfect combination for walking my giants.

Yes, he’s got a jumper so far but I am going to grab a hound specific coat as they look like they’re much better at fitting than a generic dog coat.

Fair enough. Mine is houndy (although less than yours) and they fit her.
One of the reasons I recommend them is that they generally have cut away bits or built in space for the front legs to move so doesn't interfere with movement when the dog runs.
Just something you may want to look for.

Neoprene wellies, off brand are fine and cost a fraction of the price, the flexible tops make them much more comfortable to walk in. Skechers Women's Summits walking shoes are so comfortable and great for dryer days.
I don't like coats with lots of pockets but always take my dog walking bad with me.

Tegwyn says hi to Percy.

Merry Boots ankle wellies, I love mine. Regatta big coat for the wind and rain.

ValleyofHumiliation · 12/10/2026 14:53

Oh look at his cute pink paws

im also looking for a better dog walking coat so am watching this thread with interest, but for your feet I recommend Le Chameau Vierzon wellies, they are expensive but extremely comfortable and long lasting. I wear them for all my dog walks from Oct to April

MrsPernicious · 12/10/2026 15:36

Do you have a local Country Store? Mole Valley is the place to go around here for a wide selection of weather proof clothes and shoes.
You probably need a couple of coats, a light weight shell for days like today and something warm and bum covering for when it gets cold. If you don't like coats with pockets get a cheap washable handbag that is just for dog walking.

Second getting the gorgeous beastie an Equafleece. They make ones that will fit and still let him run like a loony. Do buy second hand until he finishes growing. https://www.equafleece.co.uk/products/dogs/polo-neck-coat

Hi Percy! He is gorgeous 😍

I wear a Seasalt Janelle coat, Grub wellies on the wettest walks or walking boots or trainers for others (faves have been Timberland boots and Karrimor trainers, but both of those have worn out and am looking for their replacements). Also, a baseball cap which keeps my face dry and moisturiser out of my eyes, and also helps keep my hood on

MumOfPercy · 12/10/2026 20:02

Thanks all! Lots of suggestions here.. all these wellie and boot suggestions have me umming and ahhing over which I like most! 🤣
