Looking for recommendations for dog toys for my 1 year old doggy- Cavapoo

I have a cocker spaniel so anything he can carry and retrieve is always a winner, he mostly has rope type toys, soft toys he just shreds so he doesn't get those , and Scooby balls.

Lomonald · 26/09/2026 14:11

The best toys are the ones he isn't allowed like socks and bras 😀

24Dogcuddler · 26/09/2026 14:37

And Underpants!!!

24Dogcuddler · 26/09/2026 14:44

Chuck it durable ball, bigger ball with tags on to chew/ carry/ pull, rope toys, Kong toys,
ATM one of our spaniels has a daily play tussle over a freezable puppy teething bone bought for DDs puppy
Old favourites are a birthday balloon rope toy and a heartbeat sheep ( minus the insert) I won’t say what she does with that! Our boy prefers socks or Yaks.

He actually ate it.
Threw it up 10 minutes later and looked mightily proud of himself.
Labrador. Enough said

🤢 mine has eaten and thrown up a slug that was horrific!

Honestly? A cabbage collar! Ted has 30+ toys of a wide variety, yet he ADORES the plastic cabbage collar in the garden and plays with it for hours & hours every day. It hasn’t cracked or become sharp, it’s surprisingly well made for Temu!

Jellycatspyjamas · 26/09/2026 16:29

My boys absolute favourite toy is a small squeaky toy in the shape of a broccoli floret. I bought it in Tesco years ago and it’s survived constant playing with, it’s the toy he goes for most when he wants to play fetch.

Kitchen and toilet roll cardboard tubes, and empty plastic bottles, lol. Soooo glad I spent all that money in Pets at Home…

Mine loves bottles I launch them in the garden and he races around with them then I put them in the recycling. I do cardboard too

A stuffable Kong.
Layer up different kinds of food in it and let them eat it. We use kibble, squeeze cheese, mashed sweet potato, in fact all different kinds of meat, fish and veg!
In summer you can freeze them.

Lovely. Is he a poo eater as well?

longtompot · 26/09/2026 17:33

Balls with tags on them. She loved sucking them when she was younger, though she is only 7 months now, almost 8 months.
We also have some tug toys, one which is sheepskin, and she loves them. Probably because they are kept in a drawer so only come out for supervised play.
But cardboard tubes are always popular.

Has anyone bought the soft toys that the arms & legs come off (on purpose, they are held on with Velcro)? Just wondered if they were worth it

birdysong · 26/09/2026 17:36

Thanks for your replies. Its her birthday so I wanted to get her something special 😄

Dog-o-soar frisbee. The hound loves them. It’s a great way to tire her out. We’ve had several, mostly because I keep on chucking them into the abyss. They’re soft, so no danger they’ll harm a dog’s mouth.

SirChenjins · 26/09/2026 17:45

His squeaky bouncy rubber balls and his Flattie squirrel

LetMeStayInBed · 26/09/2026 17:51

Our dog loved a squeaky toy. His fave was a pig.

CrowsInMyGarden · 26/09/2026 21:08

My border terriers don’t interact with soft toys at all but love food puzzles. There are lots of Nina Ottoson ones on Amazon

TheeNotoriousPIG · 26/09/2026 21:13

The most popular toy at mine is one of many two-tone round rubber balls from B&M (NOT the rugby ball-shaped ones). If I'm not around, DDog1 throws it for DDog2 😂

Failing that, a Kong teddy. Teddy goes for flying lessons and ends up behind the sink, gets buried (and dug up) in the garden, and if he goes for an adventure in the washing machine, he's the first toy to be yanked off the radiator to go out to play again!

minerva7 · 26/09/2026 22:00

My dog is 10. The toy she has consistently played with the most is the Kong Wubba. And considering how many toys she has completely destroyed, only having had 2 of these last her whole life is some feat!
