Joint treats and supplements

There are so many treats and supplements out there claiming to do wonders for joints and mobility in ageing dogs.

What have you tried and what worked for your dog? What didn’t work?

My 5 year old has Kater4K9 Kinetic Flex Ultra Hip and Joint Formula.

She has had two operations for a luxating patella, one for ruptured cruciate ligament and has arthritis. Not sure if it helps or not to be honest, but it was the one recommended by a specialist.

My springer spaniel has been on Norton Joint Aid for five years. He's nearly 13. I buy them on Amazon. The one occasion I ran out he couldn't jump in the car. He's been on Metcam for a year now as well and still hares about on his spaniel missions.

ProDogRaw Flex is the one I use. I’ve tried others but they were nowhere near as effective. Dog is now 14 and a large breed - still perfectly happy to jump on the sofa, run and do an hour and a half walk several times a week

Mine is 8.5 and has never been on any joint supplements or shown any signs of stiffness. He can happily jump onto the sofa or into our cars, and tears around on walks without a problem.

The best thing you can do for your dog is to keep their weight down and keep them active.

Ours our both on YuMove. Both labs. Neither have any joint issues at the moment but want to try and protect them as they get older, they don’t chase balls and swim often, especially my younger one who has taken to swimming along the whole canal while we walk on the path! Not sure if the tablets help but they aren’t too expensive so worth it for us as a supplement.
