To switch insurance or not?

We've been with petplan for 8 years but it's now quite expensive. I've had quotes for same cover with other insurance companies but I'm nervous that others don't pay out. Anyone had positive experience of others? Tesco's seems cheapest at mo.

Unless you've genuinely never mentioned any issues at any vet appointments, I would stick with your current policy.

My sister used Tesco insurance and had no trouble when making a claim.

However, if your dog has had any illnesses or issues, they will be pre-existing conditions and wouldn't be covered. So that needs taking into consideration before you swap companies.
For example, my dog eat something she shouldn't and had an injection to make her vomit it up. When i switched insurance companies, her entire digestive tract was excluded.

Petplan are decent when dogs get old & risk increases mine only went up roughly same % annually and they don't penalise the individual for claims it's spread so can put it all through and not worry about effect on premiums unlike many insurers.

I seen many posts from people on arthritis group who had to cancel when other insurers massively increased their premiums when the dogs old or had big claims as they try to offload higher risk. Past 8yrs it can be difficult to switch to get lifetime cover and most will have something on their vet records so I'd ask for copy to check, but exclusions tend to group so urinary tract, all bowel, all lumps rather than the specific condition.

Tescos were brilliant for my ddog, paid out £££££, but check every fine detail, I had lifetime insurance from puppyhood, taking out later you need to be very careful everything is declared, fully vaccinated etc

Unless it was more than 2 policy years ago, as Many Pets will cover then.
