My dogs all wear Seresto collars, because we have a big problem with ticks round here.

FinallyMovingHouse · 16/06/2026 12:30

The only ones that have any effect are the vet prescribed ones. OTC ones don't work and you'll waste your money by buying them.

redboxer321 · 16/06/2026 12:36

@Gardenisablooming Does your dog have fleas or are you looking for something to keep them away?

noctilucentcloud · 16/06/2026 12:56

I used oral ones from the vet because if your dog goes in streams / lakes / lochs then the ones you apply to the skin and collars can get in the water and kill aquatic insects like dragonflies.

Seresto collars are brilliant for fleas and ticks. But you will need the vet for an effective wormer, I suspect, though someone will be along saying you don't!

Vacuum the house daily or twice daily at if you can, wash dog's bedding at 60 degrees if possible, small things (like coats and blankets) you can stick in the freezer for 24 hours, Indorex the house, something from the vet for the dog (I gave her Bravacto which I don't like doing as I usually use natural stuff but needs must) and don't use the kennels again.

HausofHolbein · 16/06/2026 15:16

Recent experience of this. Get to the vets - there's a tablet they can prescribe. All dead (and no reinfestations) in hours. Worth every penny.

(We'd tried every spot on, Indorex, natural sprays, flea shampoos, vacuuming, steaming. Nothing worked until this)
