Scratchy pup…..food allergies? Food recommendations please

Pup is six months old and has been scratchy since we got him really. Breeder recently said it is likely to be food issues and many dogs have a chicken allergy. He was on Scrumbles dry chicken flavour. I ve now tried Scrumbles fish (did not like) and wainwright and James wellbeloved fish flavour dry food. Last two are liked slightly better but I can tell both pup and older dog are missing chicken Scrumbles.

have noticed scrumbles do a turkey flavour. If he’s intolerant to chicken might he be ok with turkey? The scrumbles website seems to suggest this could be the case?

any recommendations for anything else to try (not raw).

My Labrador is sensitive to chicken and is currently on Skinners salmon and rice. Scrumbles do one but dearer.

Honestly, it's no good to do an armchair diagnosis when it comes to itchy skin. Take pup to a vet to rule out the obvious things like fleas and dry skin.

At 6 months they changing from puppy to adult coat... regular brushing can do wonders! (Even for short hair breeds.)

If you want to go down the food route, you need to give it 5/6 months. No treats, just choosen brand kibble or whatever even for training. Many dogs suffer with intolerance to wheat and poultry- so turkey is out.

I feed Harringtons just 6 - Salmon. Mine are doing well with it. I do have one prone to allergies and so far so good... 7 months in.

Thanks. I did mention the scratching to the vet when he had his last injections. Vet wasn’t much use to be honest. Checked him and said no sign of fleas but gave him a spot on “just in case”. Said couldn’t see anything else wrong with his skin/coat and didn’t offer any other advice. It’s not horrendous, he’s just more scratchy than my other dog, but he’s not making himself sore or anything.
