Fasting a hungry dog!

My dog has had ongoing stomach issues and is on steroids temporarily, which have made her constantly starving. Problem is that she has a colonoscopy tomorrow so has to not eat for 24 hours. Any ideas on how to get through this without losing mind?! Take her out to distract her and she's scavenging for food. Bring her home and she's either staring at me to feed her or searching the house for past chews that she's hidden 🤦🏻

None at all. Sorry.

When my dog was on steroids, he'd start barking at me to feed him 10 minutes after he'd eaten. He had IBD, which made him constantly hungry anyway, so the steroids really ramped it up.

Good luck tomorrow. I hope the colonoscopy gives you some answers.

As someone who's dog was on steroids and also starving, you have my sympathies! I think there's not much you can do other than hide anything even vaguely edible (mine would eat books, toilet roll, cardboard, plastic bags that had had food in them, houseplants and socks when desperate) and accept it is likely to be a long 24 hours. Is she allowed liquid? If so, I wonder if a few ice cubes to crunch might help. I hope the colonoscopy gives you some answers. And you both survive the fasting!
