Crate covers?

What are people’s thoughts on crate covers? They look smart to me, but am I wasting my money when I could just put a blanket over the crate?! Might it get a bit stuffy in the summer months?….

We used them to calm down the visual stimulation. Border collie.. she slept better at night, was calmer in the day, for a nap.. also found beforehand, she managed to get hold of the blankets. We made sure it was in the shade during the day and added an air cooler..

I just use an old but decent looking duvet cover he also has a car crate that has a fleece over it, in the summer I do have the bed crate in the shade and I have fan running if it is too hot and don' pull the cover over the sides so there is a through draught.

I did mean to add we have always covered the front of the crate and the dog knows that it is time to settle/sleep, he is almost 3 and have never had any issues with him in his crate.

I used old duvet covers too. I bought some double ones from a charity shop for £3. I even managed to get one that coordinated with the room decor.

Maybe I will just go with something similar, a nice blanket or duvet cover…don’t know yet if she might be a chewer and try to destroy a fancy crate cover! The Lords and Labradors ones look lovely, but also potentially quite heavy duty material, I’m worried it needs to be lighter and more breathable? (Would obviously leave one or more “flaps” open for airflow but still….)

At £200 I should hope it is lovely!

For that money id be buying a craze thats actually built in so dual function, looks like a sideboard with crate underneath.

I made one very cheaply out of a dunelm throw which matches my sofa throw and then put a piece of wood on top so it’s now useful as a coffee table too. Took me very little time.

Indeed ! £200 for a sheet is madness

Op my dog has never tried to eat his cover i mean before he was castrated he would pull it off and hump it🙄 but never chew it

SerenitySeeker4 · 24/03/2026 14:15

OP I think a nice blanket or duvet cover would be fine too.

It doesn't. Crates are sold separately, along with the bedding.

Oh I read it wrong, £200 for essential a blind is ridiculous though. It also looks quite heavy duty.
