Dog deterrent for part of the garden

My dog has become obsessed with one corner of the garden and barks and more annoyingly digs there with his back paws in a marking the territory kind of way. We are rural so there could be any number of animals passing through the hedge and garden in the night.

what can I do to deter the dog from the area - the constant damage to the lawn in the corner and muddy paws is driving me mad!
do lion poo pellets marketed for cats work for dogs too?

Well my dog loves eating cat poo so I'd be concerned he's consider it his own personal buffet.

I think your only option is to fence it off in some way. You can get interlocking fencing to create puppy pens on Amazon which could work depending how big the area is.

Thanks - re fencing it off. Last year he drove us mad going into the hedge and messing about it in so we effectively fenced it off with a sleeper wall in front of the hedge and it has just moved the problem. So if I now fence off the area again it will just push the problem more onto the lawn.

it’s a weird territory marking action where he kicks his back legs back over the ground.

Don’t even get me started on weeing up the patio furniture!!

Your choices are either to block it off, supervise and redirect him every single time - or keep him on a lead in the garden so he can’t physically practice the behaviour.
