Help us with night time toilet training for 5yr old rescue dog

Recently adopted an adult dog. Little known about her background though friendly enough and adapting well to living in a home. Only been with us a month and doing good during the day but not so much at night. We feed her at 6am, 12, and 4pm, last meal being a lighter one. She sleeps well from approx 9pm when we go to bed, to approx 5.30am. We're early risers so this is OK. Though clearly not sleeping constantly as often times does a wee and poo during the night. She doesn't whine to let us know she needs to toilet. What can we do to manage this better?

Perhaps go to a puppy regime, so get up after three hours and take her out, then again at 3.00. Every three days or so extend the periods by 15 minutes. It's brutal for a few weeks but mine have never had overnight accidents using that method. I know it's depressing coming in to a mess but you can make it better.

muddyford I guess we've been thinking that as she sometimes goes through the night without toileting indoors, she can do it, and introducing us getting up in the night with her would be a backward step. Also imaginr she'd like getting visits in the night.

I know what you're saying but I have to agree with muddyford, going back to a puppy regime is the best course of action here.
