Surgical Suit after neutering

Every-one seems to really recommend them so we got one for ddog post neutering. However, he can still lick the area (through the suit - hasn't managed to remove the suit). I think the vet said if he can still lick the suit then he should wear the cone. He hates the cone. Won't walk or pee in it. I'm struggling to see the point of the suit to be honest. Seems a bit of a waste of money. Just a bit of extra protection but the cone is still required.
We have a donut too which is better but I think he can still reach the wound with that on. It's going to be a long ten days!

Our dog hated the plastic cone and could also lick with the donut, but we bought a soft cone from Amazon and it worked really well.

Ours licked through the suit and hated it being un popped when he needed to pee, we ended up with a soft cone for during the day and the vet gave us a plastic cone we used at night.

Not soft cone sorry the donut for during the day.

My vet said it didn't matter if he licked the suit on top of the wound site.

Mine got a bit of an infection in his wound from licking he really got stuck in there 🫤

Mine didn't bother his incision at all with the surgical suit on, so it worked well for us.

My Labrador needed the suit and the cone and the doughnut all together Yes, it was a wearing ten days!

Watching with interest my rescue dog needs spaying but would completely freak out with either a cone or a doughnut so vets given me a body suit to practice with before she has the op.
