What platform is it on, how did you do it and what are the benefits?

Asking for a friend…

Why? Mine did. It grew naturally.

How do they type? Or is it all voice notes?

They’re very talented dogs, they can do all those things, hence the social media presence 😉

Mine just posts endlessly on AIBU. The answer is always yes you are.

I have a beautiful rescue ddog. She attracts a lot of attention. Someone suggested yesterday that I should start a TikTok account for her. It would be nice to promote rescue dogs and the wonderful rescue centre we got her from but I have never dabbled in any form of social media, so I wouldn’t know where to begin.

I follow a few on Instagram - ElvisBatztheLab; LivinlaVidaLexi. All labs, preferably black. Plus a couple of dog rescues that are not breed specific,

I would suggest you look at other dogs, possibly the same breed, on your preferred platform, and think about what you could add to what’s already out there.

Good luck. I love looking at dogs being dogs .

I follow these too and don't even have a lab 😆

One of my favourites I see pop up on Facebook are I think TheHuskyBros or brothers? Two dogs that are presented by their owner Becky different dog safe foods like green beans, rabbits foot, dehydrated heart etc and they’re just so endearing which ones they will eat. Love watching them.

I would use instagram and a blog to tell the story of how you got her from the rescue, how you chose her, how they vetted you, her back story, the good times since and the setbacks and challenges. I presume you have images of her at all those stages? I love a good rescue story.

My new puppy has a tiktok account, CasperTheNorwichTerrier

it’s not successful as it’s so new but each video gets a few hundred views. The thing with TikTok is just to keep posting. Put sensible hashtags up like #puppy #dog And hashtags to do with the breed. Then it will come up in peoples fyp feed if they normally interact with videos with the same hashtags. So people will stumble across them

you need 10k followers before you can get in the creator account and be monetised (my main tiktok account has a few thousand followers but not at the 10k point). My videos on that one get hundreds of thousands of views - not dog related at all.

you definitely need a niche so don’t be tempted to start posting non dog stuff on a dog account.

if you start watching dog videos on TikTok you will get ideas of what videos are popular and get lots of views. There are often little micro trends with a specific audio and set up. But you have to move quickly as trends might only last a few days, it if you get in there quickly then your video with that audio will be seen by more people.
