Looking for a new bed for my 7 year old boy. He takes himself off to lie on our bed a lot rather than his flatter bed (wasn’t flat initially ) think he probably needs a memory form one, there’s so many out there so any recommendations please 🙏

Honestly if you have the space I would look for a good quality secondhand cot mattress. There is no secondhand market for them obviously but they are usually decent quality and it’s easy to get sheets to cover them.
I have several for my own dogs and they have outlasted all my other dog beds by along long way.
just advertise on facebook for them. I got all mine for free

Costco have some amazing dog beds at the moment. I have a 40kg arthritic boy and found Costco’s beds to be the best quality wise.

@theladylp17 sadly not a Costco near me what kind of bed do you boys have ? @Ihavelostthegame good idea but not sure how popular it will be with DH in our lounge !

Also take a look at genuine sheepskin rugs. I got one for my arthritic dog. Can be used on floor or over dog bed, but warm and temperature regulating, comforting on sore joints

I would go for one which is memory foam and quite thick, as having something firm helps them get up once they start to struggle. You can always soften it up by adding blankets if he's still able to get up easily. Having arms and a back seems to help give them something to lean against when they're trying to stand.

The knuffelwuff one retiredhorse linked to looks ideal. I nearly bought one for my elderly greyhound a couple of years back, but they were all sold out of the biggest size at the time. The one I bought is excellent, but sadly it looks like that company(k9 beds) has now gone out of business.

Ruff and Tumble bolster beds here, with the washable towelling covers.

My old ridgie loves the knuffelwuff bed… she sometimes lets the younger dogs share it with her

I bought a memory foam offcut for my late dog off eBay, and then used to put a couple of fleecy blankets on top. He absolutely loved it, and it did seem really supportive and comfy.

We have found Tuffies very good for dogs with lameness/stiff joints. Supportive and very comfortable

We have Omlet dog beds. They are elevated too so easier to get in and out of for arthritic / stiff dogs.

Really good quality and loved by all our dogs. Teenagers too!

@Thesehills omlet beds look great - pretty pricey but if they’re go then happy to pay. Did you have feet on yours to elevate ?
large looks good for a lab ?

Yes we have the feet on ours. You can just see from this image.

We are collecting our new rescue dog tomorrow, hence the bed full of goodies. 💞

But you see that after two years it’s still lovely. So worth the price tag in my opinion.

The best thing about it is that our old dog loved it, it was great for him, he had a sore back and struggled bless him.

I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. 😊

Yes I would say L for a Lab. We had a M for our solid Staffy cross.
