Not tagging anyone. I'm sure you'll all find your way here if you want to join in. 😁

@TheHungryHungryLandsharks Yes P and K are related on both parents' sides. The closest link is P's Dad is K's great grandad. So technically P is K's great aunt, but I call them sisters.

The mother's side is more complicated. Without getting the paperwork out to check, it's something like P's mum's (litter mate) brother is K's Grandad. I don't know what that makes them. Some sort of cousin, I think.

I know the way I raise my dogs is not everyone's cup of tea, but we're all happy so that's all that matters. They are sociable and good with people and other dogs which, after having a reactive dog, is the most important thing for me.
Although K just found something tasty to eat on a walk and bollocked two dogs that tried to take it from her. One being at least four times her size. 😂

I was wondering about Activait. My first cocker was on it and it helped him for a good couple of years. I shall speak to the rescue. Glad it's helping Satan, although sorry she needs it.

Hope you and your DH feel better soon and are able to enjoy coffee again.

@SpanielsGalore well they are basically sisters…

I’m starting to wonder if K, P and Satan might be related! Satan loves to tell off dogs bigger than her (Twatdog being her favourite victim).

The Activait has 100% changed Satan. She’s an old girl now - DMum is celebrating her birthday today (not that we have any idea when it is, but no one else has a January birthday…). Before the Activait she didn’t even really want to walk anymore as she was getting scared, but now she’s back to being feisty.

We’re both still sick! But I managed to take the dogs out, although I am already back on the sofa and don’t think I’ll move all day. Had great fun on my walk as someone nearly jumped in front of oncoming traffic to try and get away for my dogs…who literally could not have cared less about them 😩 People are very odd!

Hope everyone gets a nice walk today 😊I’m expecting more snowy photos fr those of you up north!

Can I join this thread now? Merry is now officially an adolescent, she has her first season. Eek! I have been lurking and following along, but it makes me feel like a weird stalker. (I love your kitchen @SpanielsGalore! It might inspire me to be a bit braver when choosing colours for the house.)

SpanielsGalore · 10/01/2026 13:25

@Struckbylightning Thank you. 😊 I started out intending to go for aqua, but glad I went parrot flight instead. Who thinks of these ridiculous names?

How old is Merry now? Is she coping alright with her season? K was alright with hers, but seemed to bleed an awful lot and throughout the whole season. But I only have P to compare her to, so that might be usual.
P had three seasons and only bled lightly for the first ten days or so. The first two were a breeze, but she was very grumpy during the third one.

Little pup has totally forgotten what lead walking is as snow is just too exciting and combined with snow/ice underfoot it was hard work to get to where they can be off lead. A lovely walk otherwise, wall to wall sunshine today so it's really stunning with the snow.

@SpanielsGalore she seems to be coping fine. A lot of licking going on. I have put towels and blankets on the sofas and the kitchen floor has never seen such frequent mopping! She seems to have more of an appetite and has been a little bit more cuddly, though she actually snapped her teeth at me the other day when I was trying to get some gunk out of her eye. Fair enough I suppose.

I have been trying to walk her in quieter places, and the dreaded long line is back in use. Though I had to turn her loose on Wednesday as it was too icy underfoot and I fell on my arse. Thankfully there were no other dogs about because she did her usual galloping about in the trees like a lunatic.

Loving everyone’s snow pictures; I feel like this winter has completely passed us by. We had the lightest sprinkling of snow, and some heavy frosts, but that’s about it. Even the ‘danger to life’ storm passed us by completely!

Welcome @Struckbylightning . Don’t think we’ve met before. What dog have you got?

And this is my Dog during Traitors last night.

@tizwozliz M was an absolute nightmare yesterday in the snow, he was completely giddy. I think the snow must have produced some interesting tracks as, when he wasn’t jumping all over me, his head was down following footprints.
He hasn’t done the jumping up and mouthing for months, it was just too exciting yesterday!

The ground is absolutely treacherous today. We only have one pair of yak tracks so it was husband’s turn to take M out.

YorkshireFelix · 10/01/2026 14:39

Gorgeous @tizwozliz!! Snow has completely missed us here (which I am thankful of) and it’s very dry and sunny but freezing today which is my favourite kind of weather.

@TheHungryHungryLandsharks Hope you’re feeling better soon!!

YorkshireFelix · 10/01/2026 14:39

Just out here being a handsome fella.

TheHungryHungryLandsharks · 10/01/2026 15:06

@tizwozliz your girls move so beautifully!

@YorkshireFelix thank you! 😊The saddest part of this whole thing is the smell of coffee is still making me feel sick. I see Vinny is looking as handsome as ever...

@CoubousAndTourmaIet is it still really icy near you? Or has it melted a bit and you've been able to get out?

@Struckbylightning Merry has gotten so big and I love that her ears continue to grow with her😍I think you're in the south like me, aren't you? So mostly just icy rather than snowy...think I'd prefer the snow because then at least you get a few good walks in before it turns into a nightmare.

Struckbylightning · 10/01/2026 15:16

@tizwozliz they look like they are having so much fun!

@TheHungryHungryLandsharks Yes she’s all ears and legs! Yes I’m in the South West. It was lovely and sunny this morning. There was still frost on the ground, but I was too hot in my bobble hat.

YorkshireFelix · 10/01/2026 15:29

Love her ears 😍

Silverbirchleaf · 10/01/2026 19:01

@Struckbylightning Thank you for the photo. She’s not a Border Pap (or Collie Pap) is she - half collie, half papillon, and totally adorable. Those ears are amazing. I’d love a collie but they’d be too much for me. Mind you, my lab can be pretty full on at times also.

@YorkshireFelix Adorable! Looks windy there. More gorgeous ears.

@tizwozliz Bet they slept well after that romp. So much snow!

tizwozliz · 10/01/2026 19:10

@Silverbirchleaf - they slept pretty well, although the older one is still angling for an evening walk. It's not happening though as it's minus 3 outside and everything is covered in snow/ice

Struckbylightning · 10/01/2026 20:33

@Silverbirchleaf No she is pure border collie, though sometimes I wonder… she runs like a greyhound, digs like a terrier, sniffs about like a spaniel, climbs like a goat. And sometimes she is pure demon. And a lady we just walked past in the street said ‘oh, it’s a fox!’ so who knows. She’s growing on me though. 🥰

Silverbirchleaf · 10/01/2026 21:02

A fox! When ever have you seen a black and white fox? !

YorkshireFelix · 10/01/2026 21:50

There’s a man who walks down the river and has a dog that looks like an actual fox and it makes me jump every time even though I’ve seen it about a million times 🤣

YorkshireFelix · 11/01/2026 00:34

Gah just realised we only have one scoop of kibble left and I wont be able to get to Millie’s Wolfheart until Tuesday at the earliest! I’ll have to go and get a small bag of something to see us through. Not sure if anyone has any recommendations? We have a Jollyes and Pets at Home which will be open tomorrow.

SpanielsGalore · 11/01/2026 00:40

@YorkshireFelix I think Jollyes Lifestage Grain Free food is the same as the Country Kibble that I feed mine.

Edited

Yes I was thinking about this as I know @CoubousAndTourmaIet rates the Jollyes lifestage too so I might give that a go. It’s just a temporary thing for a couple of days so it’s not a major issue really. I am just kicking myself for not being organised! He will probably love having some variety in his life 🤣

YorkshireFelix · 11/01/2026 01:35

Also it’s £20 cheaper than Millie’s!! Maybe he will get on with it enough to switch and save me £££

tizwozliz · 11/01/2026 06:49

If you have a Tesco locally, they currently have a club card offer on 2kg bags of forthglade cold pressed. I buy that from time to time as I use it for training treats.
