Does anyone have a Maremma sheepdog?

Looking at getting one to protect our livestock, wondering how they are in general with kids etc

There is someone on here who has one and also has young children. I had a conversation with her a few months ago. I have Pyreneans. I'll see if I can find that thread and tag her for you.

I’m so sorry I’ve only just seen this! Are you still looking to go for it? I can’t say I’m an expert - we’ve had him a year and he turned 1 end of October but WOW he’s amazing with the kids.

should note though we live rurally and have lots of places to roam but he is not a working dog so I can’t comment on whether that would make a difference. He lives in the house with us and is just a massive cuddly bear.

he is CLUMSY/has knocked the kids over a few times but not recently - he’s definitely more self aware the last few months.
