Are dog training apps any good?

I’m collecting my first ever puppy tomorrow! I’m so excited but also nervous.
I was reading an article about puppy training apps and am considering signing up for one - has anyone tried them and do you think they are worth the money?

I'm a bit more old school and haven't tried the apps but my friend gifted me a bloody excellent book by an English vet who clearly knows her stuff...

Just checked downstairs and it is Puppy Perfect and the author is Linda Simon.

We have a cheeky Yorkie and she's doing really well on the advice. What breed are you getting?! Update with a pic tomorrow if you can!

No experience of doggy training Apps but I’ve always taken my pups to dog training classes for 6 weeks or so and my advice would be to do that if one not too far away.
Btw Poodles are known to be clever little things so training should be a doddle.
Just remember, dogs don’t know instinctively how to behave well and we have to show and teach them everything, which they love. Someone once told me their pup doesn’t walk properly on the lead and if they let it off, it doesn’t come back, when I told them they had to train it to do those things, they were very surprised. Just to say, dogs love training and knowing what to do, they’re just amazing creatures.

Oh, and I second @Blueskysbaby We did classes on a Sat for the 1st few months which were great for getting me and DH on the same page and for giving us more structure to our training

Highly recommend Zigzag, its one of the 'freemium' model apps meaning you can have all the content for nothing - but you're limited to how much per day, and if you upgrade, you get the access to a live expert coach (UK qualified trainers/behaviourists) and no limit - it was in one of the papers the other day - they also contribute to dog related science which is nice :)

We got our puppy in April. Like others - we did 6 weeks of training classes (ours was with dogs trust) in the early days to learn the basics and how to teach new commands/behaviours.

After that I signed up to the zigzag app but in all honestly haven’t used it that much. The best thing about it has been some of the suggestions for games to try to support mental stimulation.

In terms of training just being consistent and practicing daily with the behaviours I want has been all I’ve really needed - the app hasn’t really added anything to that.

Poodles are wonderful and so intelligent- excited for you ❤️
