Fluoxivet for anxiety

Hi, just wondering if anyone is using this brand of the drug fluoxitine, rather than Reconcile. If so, how large are the tablets and are they the chewable kind?

We have been prescribed Reconcile but my dog will not take them (tried everything, he is too suspicious) so I need the same drug in a small tablet form, non chewable. Thanks.

The generic fluoxetine is usually capsules rather than tablets and in my experience are more tricky than reconcile.

Sorry you are asking about the new TVM it is so new that very few have experience of it.

As i've not heard of that, but I used fluoxetine for a while and it was the kind of tablets you'd give to a human. So you could just get the powder out and mix it in with the food if you're feeding something wet.

You can break reconcile up if that helps? - my dog was on 1 and a half tablets for a while.

Also, I know they’re supposed to be chewable, my dog does not agree - I don’t bother hiding them in anything because he knows full well when we do that 😂 I just shove them down his throat 🤷‍♀️

Thanks all. I don’t think we could shove them down his throat. Perhaps if it was just a week’s course but this is a long term thing. He’s also agressive (fear based but still) and not a small dog.

My dog is on fluoxetine, the liquid version, it's for humans originally but delivered with a vet presc.

I made it sound more violent than it is 😂

basically if you can get it in the right spot at the back of the throat they’ll swallow - you get pill syringes as well if it’s hard going with fingers, I follow that up with a reward, it’s been like 18 months and he now just opens his mouth for me, makes giving other meds much easier too

But mostly I meant i know it’s fine to break them or crush them or whatever makes them easier to give, they’re not a tablet that it matters that you get it in whole - because for a while he was on 1.5 instead of 1 (didn’t make much difference so we dropped back down) so if you want to hide it in food you’re totally fine to crush it up.
