Dog sleeping arrangements

We've just come back from a few weeks away and our dog slept on the bed with us every night. I got used to this and loved to feel her warm little body next to mine and I could also reach out and stroke her during the night. Now we're back home DH has said he wants her to go back to sleeping downstairs because says she makes him itch. I have her on my side so I can't understand this. What does everyone think?

Your husband is entitled to not have the dog in bed with him even if he just doesn't like the idea of it, let alone if it makes him itchy.

Added to that, the dog is fine with sleeping downstairs so it's pretty obvious that is where they should stay when you're at home.

After my 4 month old puppy had an injury, I allowed him on the bed for the night. He has been on the bed ever since, husband now sleeps in the spare room. Everyone is much happier and gets a far better nights sleep! (Dog is 4 now!)

Don’t like the idea of dogs on beds as surely they make the bed smell? However my dog has a bed downstairs and a bed in my room. At night he sleeps in my room which I like as he’s getting old and I like to hear him sleeping and know he’s ok. 💙

My American bulldog has always slept with me (he came before my partner), then we got our Great Dane and my partner said he couldn’t sleep on the bed anymore as it wasn’t fair one being on the bed and one not.

Other half recently upgraded from a double to a super king to accommodate our giant oaf 😂 neither of us ever have a full nights sleep, but I love having them close to me. They make me feel safe and they keep me warm 🤷🏻‍♀️

it is one of those things where it is each to their own.

The first thing dh said when we got our second dog was “we’re going to need a bigger bed!” 🤣
