Looking for a good quality sofa cover for our choc Lab to sit on for our new sofa.
He is very mouldy!

Following with interest! I have a lovely new sofa arriving in a few weeks and two much more lovely malting dogs who will be straight on there!

I just put throws on mine, but I’m interested in what others suggest.

GameofPhones · 20/11/2025 01:07

I use a fleece double bedcover as a sofa throw. The fleece texture allows it to stay in place, and it's easy to wash, quick to dry. Don't get the fleece covers that look shiny though, they don't work.

CombatBarbie · 20/11/2025 01:10

I use fleece blankets/duvets. My sofa is grey so easy to buy covers for.

Agree with fleece covers or blankets. So easy to wash and dry, saves a lot of mess, wear and tear and general doggy residue!

Another vote for fleecy blankets - we get ours from Dunelm.

Wigtopia · 20/11/2025 07:10

Mouldy dog made me giggle 😄

interested in the various suggestions myself as we have a grot-bag Labrador and tend to chuck her into the conservatory with the dehumidifier going to dry her out after a wet and muddy walk. 😄😄

she isn’t too bothered as although I’m shutting her away from the rest of us the conservatory works as a good look out post for squirrels 👀

I got this from Amazon... it's a bit like a fitted sheet, it has some shape to it to cover the arms.
It washes well and dries quickly, comes in lots of colours.. currently it's about £15 for a 3 seater

I bought one of these to put under a nice throw to sit on; just move it off if the dog is on it. I might get another pair be so I can just swap it round. I found the hairs stick to the blankets indefinitely!

Sorry, looks like my pic didn't show which cover it was 🙄

I have a funny fuzzy throw on mine. It’s got a comfy top but the underside grips a bit to the sofa so it stays in place. Easy to wash and quick to dry. I always recommend it.

I don’t have them but have been recommended these
https://funnyfuzzy.com/products/lazy-soft-flannel-breathable-pet-mat-non-slip-couch-cover

i currently have fleece blankets but am forever pitting them in place to look tidy.

Have a look at TrustPilot before ordering from Funny Fuzz.
I just use a fleece throw which works fine.

MonkeyTennis34 · 20/11/2025 15:15

Thanks all.
The new sofas are velvet so I’m wondering whether fleece material would shed onto it?

Don’t know how to do a link but I’ve just seen some on Pet Rebellion.
They also sell sofa arm covers..MonkeyDog is very fond of resting his enormous head on a sofa arm.

I'm another who just has a series of throws. One on, one in the wash and one spare in the cupboard.

The only problem comes when she's cold and burrows underneath the throw... she's an idiot. But then the sofa is really old anyway so I don't really care and the throw is more for the 'look' than the dog.

I use an IKEA fury cover on each of the arms. They don’t move.

JBJ · 20/11/2025 17:24

The Pet Rebellion ones are lovely, just sadly a bit too short for my sofa. I have the fleecy car seat covers too, which are great. They barely shed anything even when new.

AsACloud · 20/11/2025 17:39

Another one interested as we also have a ‘mouldy’ dog 😂 the problem I find with fleeces/blankets is that no matter how well you shake them off/wash them etc they still have hairs sticking to them which then go onto the sofa anyway when you put the covers back on. Any genius solutions found?

GameofPhones · 20/11/2025 18:11

I get dog hairs off by tumble drying - my filter collects them nicely. If the fabric shouldn't be tumble dried, my dryer has a 'cool refresh' setting which also gets the hairs off.

My sofa is velvet and the fleece double bed cover I use hasn't shed onto it - no residue at all.

SparrowFeet · 20/11/2025 18:16

Pricey but Ruff and Tumble are the best - they don't slip and wash really well. I have one for each bed and sofa!

I use throws as well.
