Puppy pen help please!

We have a 3mo vizsla and are using a borrowed lightweight pen currently.
I need something stronger, that won't move when she jumps up at it. This one is driving me nuts..
So it needs to be tall, because she is growing v fast, and a fixed or fixable shape, so it doesn't go everywhere when she runs into it 😂.
Do you know what I mean?

I'm having no luck on Google so far.

Big dogs are going to be able to knock over unstable pens. I don't think there's any way round it. Use a baby gate instead

I think you need a room you are happy for her to be in and use a fixed gate to keep her contained.

However, if this is for sleeping/when you go out you should crate train.

She’ll be able to jump over a puppy pen within days, you’ll be wasting your money.

Why do you feel you need one?

CoubousAndTourmaIet · 14/11/2025 15:53

She'll get out of a playpen and could potentially get caught and injure herself jumping over. It's not worth it. Create a safe space and use dog gates, that is a far better long term option for a large agile breed.

I agree child gate and the largest crate you can find is the best way for enforced confinement!

We’ve had three vizslas and they all started with crates until they were about one. A proper crate like this obviously with bedding.

Agree with @CoubousAndTourmaIet
I have a Lab and he was too big for a pen at that age. I gave up on it after 20 minutes as he was going to end up hurting himself by trying to climb out. The pen is now running along my living room wall, simultaneously blocking off curtains, wires and a book case! I used a baby gate and made the kitchen safe for him instead.
