Teenage dog frustration

The frustration is his, not ours... Although that's debatable!

1 year old male lab. We definitely do enough with him. 3 walks per day, training, play, enrichment, plenty of rest. And yet no matter how much we do (and how much we try to get him to decompress after walks), he is often really frustrated in the evening (especially after his evening walk), until he crashes around 9-10pm. Think whining, pacing and barking. He isn't yet neutered but will this make a difference? He was actually on steroids recently (this behavior predates this though), and he was such a dream on the medication.

Just feel a bit deflated as he really does have a very good life, we work with a trainer, and yet I'm at a loss with what we're doing wrong.

You need to teach a settle. Depends how bad it is but try the relaxation protocol or try tethering him in the evening and reward calm lying down
