Weight gain after castration

Has anyone any experience of this? If it always happens/how quickly does it happen?

My cocker spaniel is booked in for his op next week and I will need to order a new sack of food shortly. He’s nearly 2 and very slim, so we’ve been feeding him the Millie’s Wolfheart with the highest fat content. I’m not sure whether to get the same again or a more midrange one.

TIA

My dog maybe put on a wee bit but honestly nothing drastic. Also feed him the salmon millies. I have tried to switch over to the lower fat one but he didn't like it as much.

I'm on my third Labrador and also have a springer spaniel. None of them put weight on after castration. In fact this Lab started to look too lean!

My dog (cocker spaniel x) put on a little bit afterwards but definitely not enough to think about adjusting his food. He just became a bit lazier basically and more likely to be found sunbathing than racing around the garden non stop!

My Springer didn’t put on any weight at all, I was hoping he would as he’s always been on the skinny side!

Thank you all for your answers 🙂
I will go ahead and restock his normal food.
